This is an old fashioned 5 & Dime store located in Shelby. It even looks like the older stores I remember from my childhood. But this chain carries some “hard to find” items that sent me here in the first place, in particular some macramé supplied that I was unable to find anywhere else.
Ben Franklin also carries some great seasonal goods that you dont find anywhere else. I always find unique and unusual Halloween and Christmas decoration here, and they are always on sale or at very reasonable prices.
Picture frames are also a great item here, and where I was unable to find a unique or unusual frame elsewhere, I can always count on finding it here.
This store is located in the middle of downtown Shelby, so parking is on the street and that can mean parking a block away. But if you are looking for something in particular, chances are you will find it here and it will be reasonably priced.
The staff is always friendly and will help you find what you are looking for. The store is bright and airy, and very vintage in feel. I nice change from the industrial feel of some of the larger department stores.
This is a nice store to wander about for decoration needs and ideas, and those hard to find items. Ben Franklin Stores have been around for a long time, and this store is a good reason why they continue to flourish.
