Review content:
My 11 month old son had an emergency operation in Oakland. On our way back up north we decided to stop in for a much needed oil change. We found them online and asked if they could help us as we were traveling and needed to get back on the road quickly. When the manager up front found out we had just moved up by Eureka he started making fun of the area and made several offensive comments. He called it Ur-Tweeka. Big deal but very unprofessional to talk bad about a place that a young family just moved to in the middle of a business transaction. Also my tire pressure indicator had turned on and I asked them to top off the nitrogen. Right off the bat the guy gave us a really high price for the oil change. When I called him out on it he told me, "oh Im sorry everybody usually asks for our extra additive so I just added it in there for you." I told him to take it off and it dropped the price like $30. Prior to pulling in, I had checked all 4 tires and I am very confident that there were no nails or anything in the tires. After changing the oil they came out and told me there was a nail in the tire and it needed to be repaired. He showed me the nail and it was a huge bright shiny nail right in the middle of the tread. It was quite obvious that they were trying to make a quick buck off of us since we were just passing through and would most likely never return. My oil change ended up costing me about $100. It wasn't a ton of extra money and I know they are not the only company in the automotive service industry to practice these dishonest tactics to increase their sales. Bottom line is there are better way to build sales,by doing quality work, and asking your clients to reward you with their loyalty. I was not rude and did not complain because I needed it done and I needed to get my family home from a long upsetting trip for the surgery. Not only will I never return to McLea's, I will make sure to spread the word about my experience online. I will post this response on every review site that I can find.
