I'm leaving for vacation in two days and decided spur of the moment to get a bikini wax before I went away. I'd tried a few home waxing kits before and had gotten mediocre results with a fair amount of pain. From all the movie portrayls and magazine articles I'd read on the subject I had just assumed waxing was meant to be a painful activity that women subjected themselves to just to be hairless for awhile. I WAS WRONG! When I got to the spa I met Jennifer who was sweet and friendly right from the get go. She made me feel as relaxed as one can feel wearing a thin disposable undergarment while laying on a well lit table. (There were heating pads under the sheets on the bed so that you stay nice and warm while laying half naked!) I explained to her how nervous I was as I had never been waxed before and have a very low pain tolerance. She reassured me I was in good hands and then proceeded to do a "test strip" on my inner thigh to show me what to expect. Barely a pinch! She always would do a quick pat on my skin after removing the wax strip which made any stinging go away almost instantly. She checked with me frequently to make sure I wasn't uncomfortable or in any pain and to make sure that she was getting the shape I wanted. Her friendly conversation also put me at ease and kept me distracted from what she was doing. Despite the fact that she said my hairs were a bit short for a wax (this was a spur of the moment decision) she still managed to get a very clean wax job. Afterwards she applied soothing lotions that greatly reduced post-wax redness and bumps. When I had previously waxed at home I would be red for a day or two and sometimes have bumps for four or five days. It's been a few hours since I got waxed and I could wear a bathing suit right now! I was thoroughly impressed with the painless & wonderful results.
Pros: Painless bikini wax, great manis & pedis, relaxing atmosphere
Cons: Receptionists can be less then welcoming, very small waiting area
