On a trip to NOLA with the Mission of Mercy group that held the medical/dental gathering at the zoo after Katrina, we were looking for a good place to eat. Well there are so many to choose from, but we asked some police that were on the streets in the French Quarter and they sent us to Oceana. What a treat. The staff made us feel like family. Whatever we thought of even though it was not on the menu they would prepare. The BarBQ Shrimp was the star of the night. Even though we are from Va., we have tried to duplicate this recipe, but it doesn't quite make it! We knew we were in the right place when on a weeknight, while some places were not opened back up, there were a lot of people there and State Troopers, everyone made us feel welcome. We were even able to tell some of the employees and guest of the free clinic at the zoo. It was good because some of their Dr's had not returned and they needed medical help. THANKS NOLA, THANKS OCEANA.............we shall return! Pros: Food done right, wonderful people, service great Cons: Not close enough to my house
