On the morning of April 30th, I rented a cargo van online for a pickup at the Seattle Rainier UHAUL location. I received a rental confirmation email, and drove 45 minutes across town to pick up the cargo van at 1:45PM - the time specified on my confirmation. When I arrived, I was told there were no available vehicles and was offered a pick-up - but it was raining. I was told to return the next morning if I wanted a van. I had a long 45 minute drive back home, and was forced to cancel and reschedule all the arrangements I'd made surrounding a large item delivery (3 people). After another cross town trip the following morning, the rental office had a computer failure and I had a long wait to pick up the vehicle, which was very frustrating. The van was nice and worked great, but after my return to the rental location (filling up the vehicle at a gas station 2 blocks from the rental location) I was told I'd receive an email and my contract with final charges within 15 minutes. I received a call six hours later informing me the tank was at 7/8ths full and I would face additional charges. I was pretty upset and can only believe someone went to lunch with it or ran an errand in the six hours before I received my receipt (though to be fair, the fuel service charge was waived when I recounted my previous frustrations, which I appreciated). Overall, I felt pretty mistreated by UHAUL and had a miserable rental experience. Worst of all, the broken online UHAUL reservation system and the computer issues at the rental location inconvenienced 3 additional people; making ME appear unprofessional. Not good.
