Review content:
The Light Opera Works in Evanston is currently in its 25th season. This professional, not-for-profit organization performs at Cahn Auditorium on the Northwestern Campus, though they are not affiliated with Northwestern. Light Opera Works performs only in English, and the ticket prices are significantly lower than you would pay for the more famous, more prestigious, and more glamorous Lyric Opera in Chicago, but the shows are just as enjoyable, albeit geared toward a slightly different audience. The 2005 season is Carnival (June) The Merry Widow (August) and the Sound of Music (December-January). (Note that each show only runs for 10 days or fewer.)
