Elementary Strings is a part of the Cross Timbers Youth Orchestra.
McKinney, Texas does not offer orchestra (yet) in middle and high schools. As a result, Elementary Strings and Cross Timbers was "born".
Elementary Strings begins with third graders and offers affordable after school instruction in specified McKinney Public Schools in violin, viola, cello and bass. Instructors are top quality and the program is outstanding.
No student is turned away. If a student can not pay the tuition (which is extremely reasonable), donors will step forward to help. The same is true of instrument rental.
Cross Timbers is the middle school "arm" - children who progress through Elementary Strings and other programs are allowed to try out for Cross Timbers.
This program was born from the love of music and that is what is given to the children who participate.
