We have eaten at the Italian Gardens countless times and always enjoyed it. The food is consistenly good and the menu is big enough that everyone can find something they like. Service is good, kids are welcome, and the atmosphere is pleasant if a bit dark. The best part is that it's in Kenilworth mall, which is a manageable size with a nice variety of stores. You can shop awhile and then have a nice sit-down dinner, or just get a few slices of their excellent pizza to eat at the tables around the central fountain. Very pleasant!
