Good sizes furniture store mainly aimed at students, large selection of small couches for dorm rooms, futons, lamps, desks, etc. Prices I felt were overpriced due to location. Quality of furniture is ok at best, on the cheaper side for sure. Have many items in stock however and deliver for a reasonable fee.

My wife and I went to this conveniently located store when we moved here a few weeks ago to purchase a futon and loveseat. While we didn't find anything there, I am sure its perfect for college students. The furniture is cheap quality and the prices are high for what you get, but its well located for all the parents to buy stuff for their kids before they leave.

A pipe burst in my house and it caused a flood. There was a lot of water damage. I called this company to clean it up and they did a good job. They got rid of all the water and restored the damage. They also worked right with my insurance company, so I didn't have to worry about anything. The peace of mind alone was worth the call.

These guys do great printing and even better prices. They let you pick the exact clothing to have printed, and they even said they could do shirts I brought to them if I liked.
Friendly and affordable. That's all I need. I only got 10 shirts from them the first time and they were still less then ten bucks each.
Thanks We Print Shirts 4 Less!
Pros: Great Prices and a huge clothing selection.
Cons: they don't have a real storefront just a shop, but pickup is still available

Local used furniture store, mainly aimed at students since much of the items are overpriced (I think). But if you don't have a car and need a table, desk, sofa, etc. pass by the store, they have a reasonably large inventory.
PROS: Local, easy for students to get to, have a good inventory
CONS: Too expensive for used furniture

Mahoney's recently moved to Western Ave. in Allston after being located on Memorial Drive in Cambridge for years. They still have a lot to choose from, but the new layout makes it more difficult to find the things that you want. Their selection of plants is wonderful, but their selection of gardening tools and supplies really lacks. They have beautiful pottery and other landscaping elements that can make for beautiful displays. Mahoney's is a bit pricey, but the employees are very knowledgeable and willing to help.

Model Hardware, if I'm not mistaken, is part of the ACE hardware franchise, at least by logo. The feel of it is very independent, however. I've gotten keys and chains cut for locks, and the people have been very helpful and cooperative, though sometimes a bit aloof. At times, especially when getting keys made, some of the employees are better than others. Some of them won't look as closely as they need to, leaving you with a key that will not unlock your door. The older woman is the best...she's the only one who knew that if a key was too long, all you had to do was turn it over and cut the tail off backwards. Go to her first for all key making!

The Sil is on Brighton Ave. at Allston St. Sometimes it smells like urine or vomit, but most times i just smells like dudes. Pitchers of Pabst go for $6.75 and bud light is something like $8, so you can drink for a while with some friends and not be too far in debt. The best part is probably this bar's dart room. A whole room dedicated to 4 or 5 boards, with a few electronic scoreboards for the alcohol induced mathematicians. There's even a teenie window to the bar so you can order your drinks without missing a toss. They also have Keno and an instant lotto machine...and free stale popcorn!!

This place is what it sounds like. Old peoples things, cheap. There are tons of clothes, all sizes and styles. Sports coats, jeans, t-shirts, dresses, i think even gowns. For the average guy, buying clothes here is reserved for halloween and maybe joke-cocktail parties. Girls on the other hand, seem to find some gems along the racks. This place might skeeve some out, but it's really not all that bad. They have some books and kids toys too, kind of like a salvation army, except i don't think anything goes to charity. cheap though.
