I love this Ikea. I could spend hours walking around checking out the cool setups they have of model rooms. And of course buying way too many goodies for my apartment, but since things are so cheap one can afford to splurge. I recommend getting the catalog ahead of time so you can get a sense of what you're looking for- otherwise you could seriously spend an entire day, then sleep there over night and start in the next morning again...
There's a cafe in the store that sells Swedish food at really low prices.
The only downside is that it is not convenient to a metro, bt then again you're probably going to be hauling huge bags home so the metro wouldn't be feasible anyway!

I like that Baja Fresh uses fresh ingredients, but that's where it ends for me. They rarely get my order correct, and I just don't think it tastes that good (although if I have to eat there I get the quesadilla or the nachos, both of which are OK). However, I have friends who can't live without Baja Fresh, so it's worth giving it a try to see if you love it or hate it.
This Baja Fresh is about 2 blocks from the Bethesda metro station.

The fun part about eating at Cafe Deluxe is that the decor, ambiance and service make it feel like it should be much more expensive than it is, at least at lunch. The menu has very good variety. I recommend the hamburger with brie cheese. During lunch it gets very busy- I'm not sure if they accept reservations, but it would be worth it to make one if they do.
Cafe Deluxe is located 2 blocks from the Bethesda metro station.

La Tomate serves delicious italian meals. The service was wonderful- our server was attentive and the food came in a timely manner. The food was wonderful- the best gnocci I've ever had. They had a nice wine list too. Overall it was a very nice evening out, and it is located in Dupont Circle so there's plenty to see and do before or after dinner out.
The restaurant is steps from the Dupont Circle metro.

Fuddruckers is a partial service restaurant- you order at the counter and pick up your food, but they bus for you. The food is just okay- it's pretty greasy and very expensive for the portions and quality. I will say that the french fries are excellent. I love the spices they put on them.
The service is really nice. The people are friendly and they pay attention to the little details of your order. You can call in your order ahead of time and pick it up for takeout.
This Fuddruckers is right across from the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stop.

I bought my last pair of glasses at Hour Eyes. The selection is great, and when I went in they were having a great sale- I ended up getting mine for over 50% off. The salespeople were nice, although I would have liked a little more help in selecting a frame, bu the store was packed because of the sale. I was very happy with my selection, and it really did take only an hour for them to fix the glasses with my prescription. The salesman who checked me out was very nice and goodnatured when I rejected all the extras (glare protection and insurance, etc). I was really happy with my purchase.
The store is in the Pentagon City mall, which is at the Pentagon City metro stop. There is a doctor of optometry associated with teh store if you need to get a prescription.

Dr. Clark is located in the Pentagon City mall, which has a metro stop so it's very convenient. I needed contacts and placed my order with them for a few boxes after my appointment (the office is next to a Lenscrafters, so I might have been buying them from there. I never had to go into the Lenscrafters though- there's a separate entrance). They did not have the contacts- Acuvue 2- in stock and I had to go back to pick them up, which was a bummer. They gave me a copy of my prescription, which I used to buy more contacts online later.
A few months later I went to Hour Eyes in the same mall to buy glasses but couldn't find my prescription. I walked into Dr. Clark's office and they gave me a new copy on the spot with no hassle.

I love the magazine selection at this Borders. They also have a nice cafe that serves coffee and tea drinks and snacks. The book selection is pretty good, and the staff is very helpful if you're looking for a specific book. There's a bargain section where you can get older hardbacks for less than $10. They also sell cards and gift wrap, and around holidays they sell themed gifts.
