The Black Forest Inn is one of the anchor restaurants on Nicollet Avenue-having weathered the avenue's rougher times before it became known as "Eat Street."
Unfortunately, I think the Black Forest gets to coast along on it's theme restaurant niche-rather than the quality of the food served.
While summers out on the patio are great-I wish the food was a little more up to par (especially at $10+ for a lunch entrée). Having had great German food in the past--Black Forest dishes are definitely poorly sauced-usually either too bland, or conversely, swimming in a disgusting sea of vinegar (sauerbrauten) by comparison.
