I love great steak as well as great seafood, however it is almost impossible to find a restaurant to satisify both needs.. But I did find one on City Island, Sammy's fishbox. I ordered a steak and maine lobster surf & turf. It was incredible the losbster was tender, full and sweet and the steak was cut with a fork tender and delicious..I highly recommed this place..a real surprise but one I can't wait to repeat.
Pros: fish & staek

This is not shi-shi Manhattan restaurant food. Nor is it touristy Little Italy food slathered bread crumbs and oil. It's hearty, scrumptious Italian food in a cozy (even romantic) setting. I went for lunch on a weekday at opening (Noon), so no wait. The staff was very attentive.
I made the mistake of eating alone. The portions are just too big to do that. Go with a friend, or two or three, share an appetizer, and leave plenty of room for the main. Very home-style desert - go for the less usual. I had a sort of ricotta torte w/ grains, a savory sweet thing that was heaven with the espresso (oh so perfect).
Pros: great service, delicious food, nice setting
Cons: a touch pricey for Bronx

Located just off Broadway at 242nd street, the Riverdale Garden is just what we need around here. The highly skilled kitchen staff put forth thoughtfully prepared food that is fantastic. With the best risotto in the city, vinaigrettes that should be bottled they are that good - I always enjoy perfectly cooked fish when I go there. The fresh flavors (no heavy sauces thank you!), interesting menu choices (wild boar anyone?), and yummy desserts (big enough to share, not that you?ll want to!) more than make up for service that, while always well meaning, sometimes misses the mark. I love this place!

Most people probably would take the train all the way to the northern section of the Bronx to explore on a Saturday afternoon, but they are missing a beautiful neighborhood in NYC. Little Italy is a tiny community near Fordham University centered around Arthur Ave. In my opinion, Tino's is probably the best of the best in Little Italy. They have lists of authentic Italian sandwiches, whatever you are in the mood for--from mild creamy mozzarella, basil, tomato to spicy combinations of sliced meats and roasted peppers. They also have a few dozen different daily salads that are wonderful.
Although an hour away from midtown, it is well worth the afternoon excursion.

I've been to Dominick's a number of times.
This place has some of the best Italian food this side of Italy. The service has always been excellent, and the food wonderful. There are several quirks that you should understand. 1. The menu is written on the board, there is no menu handed to you. 2. The waiter will tell you what they have, will make recommendations. Let the waiter lead you, you won't go wrong. 3. If they haven't changed things, it's a cash only operation. 4. At the end of the meal the waiter will "tell" you the price, there is no written check, you add the tip and pay. 5. They don't serve dessert, you go a few doors away to the bakery for desserts to die for. 6. Seating at Dominick's can be a challenge. You'll possibly share a long wooden table with strangers. This is not a problem as everyone who walks through the door is friendly. We've shared many evenings with the locals, which I am not.
As I read the few negative comments about Dominick's all I can think of is these reviewers were at a different restaurant, or worse, they wouldn't recognize great Italian food if they tripped over it.
Chill out, try as much of the wonderful food as you can handle, and don't forget the wine.
Pros: They will make whatever you want, just ask.
Cons: None. Old neighborhood atmosphere, great people to talk with.

At first I was confused because the restaurant was at capacity and I didn't see a podium where names were being taken for seating. I asked a few patrons outside and was told to just hang around until the owner comes out and acknowledges you. But don't get me wrong, this place is totally unpretentous and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Great for family and friends to gather. It might be a bit busy for a low key romantic date but trust me, the food will probably outshine your date hands down!
Alex, the owner, is super attentive to every one who walks through the door. He has obviously rubbed off on his staff because no matter who you grabbed, they were equally attentive.
Alex was aware that this was our first visit and took his time to go over the menu with us. once he realized that there were many dishes that we had never heard of let alone tried, he encouraged us to try something new and even assureds us that if we were not happy with it tha he would replace it with another dish that we were familiar with, free of charge.
From the calamari, to the steak, shrimp scampi, roasted duck, and pasta...there wasn't one thing that we didn't love!
This was the first time that I enjoyed a meal starting with the bread basket to my expresso after dessert.
I didn't mind the wait and I will definately be back there for all special occassions and everything in between!
Thank you alex and thanks to your staff. This is the first time I couldn't wait to get home and add to the reviews for a restaurant.
Pros: Service & Food
Cons: No formal seating list. Confusing for new comers like me.

I visited Tosca's last week with my husband and his father. I ordered the porterhouse, and to be quite honest, it was the best I'd ever had. The presentation was nice. and the taste was even more better!!! Everything was perfect. The waiter was not only friendly but funny too. I just had a good time and can't wait to come back. DONT EVER TAKE THAT STEAK OFF THE MENU!!!
Pros: The Steak and the staff
Cons: None this time
