I can't believe these guys are still in business... 4/20/2011

What I find most off-putting about Page One is how you when walk into the store you're immediately confronted by what looks like a defensive barricade (one way in, one way out) made of a desk, metal detectors, tactically-positioned shelves and guards, er, ""associates"" who compel you to surrender any bags you might be carrying. I respect the need of the store to minimize loss and theft of their inventory, but do they have to be so draconian about it? Honestly, all that's missing from Page One's entrance is the sign that says ""Arbeit Macht Frei"". Page One's appeal seems mostly to be with Abq's ""Lexus Liberal"" community of white, wealthy leisure class types who somehow have time to sit around the cafe for two or three hours every day eating a bagel and feel self-important; people who assume anything west of Wyoming Boulevard is ""the Hood"", and thus would never deign to go to a McBook chain like Barnes & Noble where they can get the same books probably cheaper. more
