Being a Texan, I have eaten my fair share of Mexican, Tex-Mex, Latin Inspired, whatever you want to call it type food.
I found Tila's through Citysearch and went for a co-worker's birthday lunch. We work in the Galleria area, so the location was convenient. They accommodated eight (8) of us no problems about 12:15 on a Thursday. It was great not to see a (gazillion) people in a lunch spot which is what Galleria area workers are used to when they go out for lunch.
The service was not bad. The food was acceptable. I do however think the value of what we got for the money was insufficient. (Paying extra for more chips is non-sense --- sure whether you see it on the bill or not you are paying for it any way, but it was the thought of an extra charge.) $159 (before tip) spread over eight (8) is not bad, but more than I expected, and more than I feel we got.
Doubt I'll go back, but I did hear their margaritas are decent so I may have to give them another shot in the evening. Besides margaritas make everything better.
Pros: Was not busy at lunch.
Cons: Value
