Poorly made engagement ring results in taking Grace Jewelers to Court 5/14/2007

My fiancee bought my engagement ring here. After two weeks of wearing the ring, one of the marquee diamonds fell out of the setting. Luckily I was at work and I was able to find the diamond. Grace Jewelry put the diamond back in the setting, but three week later it happened again. This time I was not able to find the diamond. I wanted to return the ring but they somehow convinced me to let them replace the diamond for free. I took the ring to a number of jewelry repair places and they all said the ring was made poorly and that they didn't want to touch it because any reapir would change the aesthetic. \r \r On Saturday the same marquee fell out for the third time. My fiancee and I went to Grace with the intention of returning the ring since it was obviously defective. They would not let us return the ring, and then when we rationally tried to meet mid way (we would keep the main diamond, they would return the setting) they would only take the setting back at cost! Um, hello! We paid retail for the setting, not cost! The people there said there was nothing they could do since the owner wouldn't allow returns (although I was certain we were talking to the owner, Paul). After two hours of fighting, we walked out with the defective ring. \r \r This morning we are serving them with a demand for full refund, and if they do not reply within 10 days we will be suing them for the full price of the ring plus damages.\r \r I can't believe how greedy and immoral these people are. This will be solved, and we will receive our full refund back at minimum. I suggest that unless you want to go through a) the heartache of your engagement ring being defective and b) an inconvenient court trial, then do not shop here.\r \r Update - we took Grace to small claims court and WON. However, after over two months after the judgment was mailed, they refuse to pay the settlement. Therefore, we have been forced to go back court and put a lien on their bank accounts. Pros: no positives Cons: greedy, pushy, immoral sales people more
