Good food, bad service 1/25/2007

I had my share of sushies(?) in city of austin, considering I lived in Austin for over five years. I had been going to Ichiban years ago, but last month was the first after the owner changed (at least that's what my friend told me). If you are thinking about going to Ichiban for your next sushi cusine, I seriously encourage you to reconsider. Don't get me wrong the food was great! However it was the service that got me.. Me and my girl friend was served by this short mid-aged woman. She was OK at first, after struggling a bit at taking orders (She barely spoke any English I believe). After she brought our drinks, I tried to be friendly by asking her name, like I always do when I go to eat. But then, She completely ignored me. I was sure she ignored me because she took a look at me then walked away. I tried to understand, since she wasn't fluent in english. After some moments, I found out that her english wasn't any better than her serving skills. She didn't come to offer any refills, took the longest time to bring our food (I saw our sushi sitting on a bar for at least 10 minutes), and she didn't even get us a soy sauce. I had to actually walk up to another waitress to ask for it. I wouldn't say the restaurant was busy at all, since there were only two other tables other than us. Also our waitress was just sitting on a counter, counting money. Pros: Great food Cons: Short mid-aged woman more
