Well I'm a convert. I had gone along to the Guitar Center sale where they were offering ""buy 1 pair of drumsticks, get 11 free"". The sticks were crap and I noticed they were selling a used Gretsch Grand Prix (retails NEW for $500) for $1200.
Sam Adato's couldn't be more of a contrast. He's helpful, knowledgable, and best of all, won't sell you anything you don't need. I went in to buy new heads and ended up bringing my kit in, after talking to him. He tuned them the best they've ever heard, and told me I didn't need new heads. Then he didn't charge me a dime! I was blown away and better yet, when I got my drums back to the studio, I was suddenly a better drummer. Sam Adato's won't cost you more than GC et al. in fact, you'll be a better musician for it.
