The house and gardens of the Old Monterey Inn look and feel like an English country house. With cool pacific fogs often blowing across Monterey, the effect is uncanny.
The rooms are upscale B&B--not ultra-luxury, but not overly frilly either. Service is very attentive and organized.
Breakfasts are imaginative, served in the formal dining room or delivered to your room. Some fellow guests were put off by the ice cream and fruit served at one morning's breakfast...maybe they lacked the ""imagination"" of the Inn's cooks.
Location is good for exploring the coastal area, far enough from the tacky Cannery Row area.
Pros: gardens, service
