Delivered my first baby 8/5/2005

Dr. Stuckey was the attending ob/gyn at my first child's birth. While I was not happy with the overall experience, Dr. Stuckey did a decent job of ensuring both my baby and I were safe. She was only in the room during some cervical checks, as well as at the end during the pushing stage. While this is not nearly enough time in my opinion, it is typical of hospital births so not her fault. She was friendly with my husband and me, explaining our options to us in layman's terms. She did have pretty good bedside manner. After pushing for less than an hour, Dr. Stuckey was concerned about infection due to my water having broken 36 hours prior. She said I had 5 minutes to get the baby out or she was taking me for a c-section. I did my best, but still needed the aid of the vacuum suction. My husband said she was pulling with all her strength and using her legs as leverage. When you consider ho fragile a newborn is, this is very scary. Luckily, we both ended up okay and with no infection. I guess Dr. Stuckey did a good job in that we were both healthy and safe in the end, but I was very disappointed in the experience overall. And my deciding to choose a midwife for my current pregnancy is proof of that. more
