Westway Ford Dealership in Irving, TX pulled a "Bait and Switch" scam on me today.
My daughter asked me to go with her to purchase her first new car. I sent an email through Autotrader to get a quote on one of the new Fiestas.
My Inquiry at Westway Ford was answered by a salesman named Spencer. We discussed the SE model with Hatchback, with MSRP of over 17,000. He even texted me a photo of a car. But then I told him my daughter wanted one of the more affordable models. He told me he would check with his manager on the inventory. I told him we wanted to buy a car the same day.
His manager, Kyle called me several times and told me he would make it worth the hour drive to Irving. He told us he had several of the model that we wanted in stock. He kept telling me that he would make it worth our while and we would get the Employee Discount, under the Invoice Price, it would be a little under 14,000. He called several more times before we arrived, to make sure we were on our way and if we needed directions.
When we arrived at Westway Ford, Spencer immediately takes us insides and starts paperwork and wants my daughters keys to evaluate her trade in. He goes into a room with someone I assume is Kyle and just chats. We get bored and get up and go outside and look at the pricey Fiestas that are on the lot and I text Spencer that we would like to see the car that we came to buy. He comes out and starts to tell us it is in route and not there!
I became really angry and demand he return my daughter's car keys because I do not believe that there is any possible way that they did not know the car was not in stock. Spencer came out with another manager, not Kyle, and tried to talk us into test driving another car that we had already discussed (that cost over 17.000)
We started to leave and the two salesmen became disrespectful.
We bought a Yaris and hour later at Toyota of Irving. My daughter says now she will never buy a Ford.
