This shop used to be in Agoura, but the newer Westlake local is bigger, brighter, and better stocked. They've got all the latest brands and gear, though they're a bit prejudicial toward shortboards and it might not be the place to go if you're in the market for a longboard. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center, but it can be very, very crowded because of the Costco nearby.

Excellent - Santa Monica National Recreation Area is a part of the National Park Service, and has a large number of holding in both Ventura and Los Angeles County. The Santa Monica National Recreation Area has many very good hiking trails and other outdoor areas, and has great programs and staff. They also have some very good programs at some of the park areas with music and nature programs. Great!

Gardens Of the World is a small little park, run by a private foundation, across from the Thousand Oaks Civic Center. The garden has some nice areas, a Japanese pagoda and koi, and lots of other garden areas. This is a nice place to sit and relax, and they often have community events here. Nice place to drop by if you work in the area.

This is a nice park tucked away in the hills of Thousand Oaks. The garden includes a a rare fruit garden on the hill, with lots of rare fruits, and also a children's garden, desert and salvia gardens, and others. Volunteer maintained, so it's not the most kept garden, but it's nice to have a place locally with a nice collection of plants.

Wildwood Park is in Thousand Oaks and offers a large area to ride your mountain bike, hike through the hills, and otherwise get closer to nature. The trails are well maintained and there are lots of places to go. Very busy on weekends, however if you pick the right trails you won't have to run into people. Great place to get away from the city and not actually have to go anywhere.

I went to this museum for an art class and there really isn't much to it. I think it's a little bit more for kids than adults. There are parks around though and it is a really nice quiet area of Thousand Oaks. If you have a project or want to take your kids to something a little more educational than a movie I'd recommend Chumash.
