Kid Friendly Staff and Great Breakfast 4/24/2012

Our Favorite breakfast place up north. The uppon arriving with our toddler the waitress seated us and brought out a high chair right away. I liked that she engaged him in conversation and when my husband and I ordered two adult plates (portions are healthy) she brought out a plate for my son without us having to ask. Food is good and flavorful. Love the biscuts and gravey and scrambles. There's a changing staion in the ladies room, kids menu with healthy items, crayons, and ample parking. Only con: It can get busy on weekends with waits up to an hour and they don't take reservations so we try and go on weekdays only. more

Healthy Portions and Taste great 12/29/2011

Pros: Good food and coffee, good portions. Favorites include the scrambles and biscuits and gravy. Cons: The wait on weekends which is expected for a good place and it's going to be a bit of a drive for most people. We try and time our visits on our way up to hikes or mountains off hwy 2. more

BEST Breakfast around! 5/7/2006

If you're never been to the Maltby Cafe for breakfast - you're missing out! This place is a gem - and it's discovered, so the wait can be long - but trust me, it's worth it. You get a great, hearty country breakfast in a funky, no-frills dining room. Heavenly! Don't miss the super fresh orange juice and the country potatoes. Yum! more

Best Breakfast in the NW 4/9/2006

This restaurant has been voted the Best Breakfast in Western Washington. I agree completely! This gem is in the tiny town of Maltby just outside Snohomish. There is always a wait here, but I guarantee the breakfast is well worth it. I love the scrambles, the country potatoes and the fresh OJ. Watch out for their signature cinnamon rolls, they are HUGE! I highly recommend checking this place out. My only advice is go early and go hungry! more

The Best Breakfast! 4/1/2006

If you're hungry and looking for some great food, you've got to visit the Maltby Cafe. HUGE breakfasts and good old fashioned cooking. It's one of those local legends that truly lives up to its name. Super busy on weekends, so either go early, or better yet, try a weekday. It's a simple place, with great food. A+++! Whatever type of breakfast you're in the mood for, it's here...but you won't be eating for the rest of the day! more

Food for an Entire Day! 3/18/2006

This is the best breakfast place ever! The portions are absolutely huge--no enormous! If you eat breakfast here, you won't want to eat for the rest of day. Great food, homestyle cookin'. Small, quaint, non-showy place located in sort of the basement of a building. Don't let first appearances deceive you. You gotta go. But beware, weekend mornings are soooo crowded. Try a weekday. more

Best Breakfast on the Eastside 9/30/2005

The Maltby Cafe is my favorite breakfast place by far. The cafe is located in the basement of a former schoolhouse in the small town of Maltby. The atmosphere has a comfortable, old-fashioned feel to it. They have a huge breakfast menu, with lots of hearty and healthy choices. The strawberry-filled Swedish pancakes are outstanding. The country fried red potatoes are cooked to perfection, and the bacon is thick and crispy. Enormous cinnamon rolls. They have really great coffee, too. The portions are huge; I generally take half of my meal home. The people are really friendly, and the service is generally fast. Unfortunately, the wait time is often very long on weekends (i.e. 45+ minutes). Come early or close to closing to avoid the big crowds. more
