I have been a season ticket holder to the Hale Center Theater for 2 years and have never once been disappointed. The actors are very talented, staging is excellent, costumes are great...yoiu get the idea. Their musicals are especially wonderful and worth every penny. With the theater in the round style, there isn't a bad seat in the house (trust me, I've sat al over that theater and always have a great seat). Productions are wholesome and never offensive--a refreshing change from the movie theater.

This is such a fun place to go to. They are a playhouse, but they also serve snacks and dinner. You sit and watch the play at a table. The plays are comical and fun to watch. They aren't really serious dramas. When we went, we watched a play making fun of the movie "Legally Blonde." Then at the end they had a sing a long. It was a fun night. The price is around $15 a person. If you want to have a full dinner in the dinner theatre it is around $30 a person.

Kilby court is an awesome little music venue. It is really, really small (the band plays in a little storage building that is maybe the size of a living room) and it is always hot(!) and crowded. Unless you get in the front or stand on something you won't be able to see the band because they stand on a very small platform. Outside the storage building there is a really pleasant courtyard that you can sit in and still hear the band. It is really intimate and I've always been able to talk with the band afterwards. Kilby court is the best venue in Salt Lake City.

This past spring, my best friend and I went to see Benjamin Britten's, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and it was absolutely FANTASTIC! I had never been to an opera before, so I wasn't really sure what to expect. We had so much fun getting all "dolled up" to go to this event. Once the opera started, and the first sounds came out of their mouths, I was mesmerized for the rest of the evening. I even caught myself sitting there with my mouth wide open--it was just beautiful. We plan on going back during the holiday season to see something else. I can't wait!

Pioneer Theatre is a university-based theatre at the bottom of the university of utah campus. During the school year they always have first rate musicals, plays and other productions. If you are a student at the university, tickets are really cheap a half-hour before the curtain (usually 5 dollars a ticket once you set up the once a year setup fee).

More
Children's Ballet Theatre is a great place to enroll your child if he or she are interested in taking up ballet dancing. The instructors are great with children and they take their time teaching the fundamentals of this great dance. They take children from the age of 2.5 years old. So if you want to get your little one to start in ballet, I suggest that you put them in this dance studio.

Abravenal Hall in Salt Lake City is the home to the Utah Symphony with Keith Lockhart conducting. It is a wonderful experience to see a symphony live. The hall is beautiful with lush gold colors. The symphony is wonderful and they always have amazing guests come and perform. There are also other events at Abravenal Hall, such as art displays. Definately check it out. They also give discounted rates to seniors and students (be prepared to show student ID.)

Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City is one of the coolest venues in my opinion. They have such a wide spectrum of performances. The University of Utah owns the hall and the students from various organizations perform there. I have seen operas, symphonies, and concerts there. They book rock and roll bands there often. They also put on an awesome Halloween show called "Thriller" every year. Be sure to check out what things will be coming there. The inside decor is awesome! It has a really vintage feel. There are photographs and autographs on the famous performers through the years displayed on the walls. Check it out. Discounts for students (with ID)

More
I went with my daughter on a school field trip to the play Amelia Bedelia Goes Camping. I have to admit that I was sleepy and dozed off one or two times during the first 10 or 15 minutes. All of the school kids loved this play. It was targeted just to reach them. They laughed and laughed. They loved Amelia Bedelia. This play was at the Children's Theatre. They have plays geared towards children. They also have a school of the arts where children can take acting classes. This was a fun experience for my daughter to go see a play that she was interested in.

Every single time I've stepped foot into the E Center has been when I was attending a Utah Grizzlies hockey game. First off, the parking lot is big enough that you can find a space to park in. It is fairly well lit so that you can see in the dark. Next, the size of the E Center is HUGE. Many, many seats to sit all the fans and the ice below can be viewed--even from the nosebleed seats. I think overall, the E Center compares to any other ''stadium'' like it. Many events are held here, including concerts. It is easy to get to--the I-215 ramp is located right around the corner, so you can get here from any place in the state.
