I went to Finz recently and found it to be a wonderful experience. The waitstaff was friendly and very helpful and attentive. We were fortunate to be seated at a window table with a beautiful view of the water and the many passing boats. I had an appetizer special that included two of the largest scallops I have ever seen-delicious. The Hawaiin swordfish with sweet potato fries was outstanding as was the baked haddock with crabmeat. Clam chowder with corn also very good. Mixed drinks are a good size and not watered down. Large bar with a number of couches in the room is good for group conversation. Plenty of outdoor tables, too. The dress is casual from tee-shirts and shorts to business casual. Finz has been added to my list of favorite restaurants.
Pros: Food, service, water view.
Cons: Parking, although there is a free lot nearby.

After researching many massage schools in the Boston area, I found my way to Palmer. The minute I walked into the door I knew I had found the school I wanted to attend. I will be graduating in December, but will definately be returning to take more classes. The teachers are all amazing. They are full of so much knowledge and have so much experience in the massage world that they want to pass on to you as a student. I feel that they truly want each and every student to succeed. I feel like I am part of a family at Palmer. I work full time and have been able to create my own schedule to meet my needs. Attending Parlmer has definately changed my life in such a positive way. I will be done with classes in December but will definately be returning to take more classes to enhance what I can offer . The atmosphere at Palmer is energizing and soothing all in one. I feel comfortable learning and I feel completely prepared to begin looking for a job upon completion. I also feel that I can always remain in contact with the teachers and Diane Palmer if I have any questions at all in the future. Thank you Palmer!
Pros: You can make your own schedule and choose your classes, soothing and energizing atmosphere
Cons: None that I can think of....

The Salem Beer Works is a nice casual restaurant in downtown Salem. Here they have several different kinds of beer that are brewed right at this facility. They have large screen TV's for watching games that are very easy to see no matter where you might sit in the restaurant. At night, this serves as an excellent after-work place for locals. The food is not bad either- the menu serves casual American entrees and even has vegetarian dishes like veggie burgers on top of standards like chicken wings and fries. Not bad!

North Shore Light. This beer is just right. I am not a very good beer drinker but this one is smooth and goes down nice. I like ordering a haddock sandwich and requesting that they change it out for salmon. Everytime they have been more than happy to do it. I add my coleslaw to the sandwich and it is yummy. The burgers are very generous in portion and good flavor. The mexicali chicken quesadilla was delicious too.
I've been to Salem Beer Works and Boston Beer Works on a number of occasions and really feel like they offer an excellent menu, generous portions, and a decent value.
Pros: Generous portions, good food
Cons: No complaints here

Its in downtown Salem, a must see for any visitor. I live in salem, and recently re-visited it. Hadnt been there in 30 years! Shame on me! I was delighted with the additions they put on. Wonderful new building with glass walls and ceilings. They offer a nice little area to grap a bite to eat. I was impressed that each area of the museum had an attendant, not only to watch that no visitors touch any thing, but they also are there to answer any questions you might have. Lots to see. And none of it is boring either. Extremely well kept. Very pleasant place to visit........rain or shine!

When you walk into Derby Square Books in Derby Square, Salem, you're overwhelmed by the shear number of books. There are books stacked 10 or 15 high, and sometimes even more, labels out so they can be perused. The owner seems to know where everything is by heart, and can guide you to a book on the tip of your tongue that you've always wanted to read. There is also a large selection of books for a set low price of just a few dollars.
Definitely stop by if you are in the Salem area.

Located in The Hawthorne Hotel in Historic Salem, Tavern on The Green has a small menu that includes soups, salads, pasta dishes, wraps, chicken, and pork. It is decorated like a library with winged back
chairs and a large fireplace. The windows overlook the Salem Commons which makes it ideal for sitting back and taking in the colorful leaves in the fall or the snowy park in the winter. They have the most amazing coffee and flavored liqours. Menu is reasonable priced
and staff doesn't rush you. Great for a nightcap, or to catch up and chat with a friend.
