Taj Mahal Imports is the premier South Asian supermarket in the DFW area. Basically whatever your needs are, they can meet them. Besides the typical grocery store selection of fresh produce, breads, spices, instant meals, etc, they also sell items for pooja, jewellery (glass bangles and the like), magazines (India Today, Filmfare, etc), henna paste, home decorations, and more. In the back is their Chat Corner which is fairly well known around here; the chaat's quite good, and they also have pani puri as well as full meals with roti etc., and also kulfi and a variety of cold drinks. There's satellite TV for you to watch while you eat.
The selection is the best thing about this place; do check your labels though before you buy anything, some of the expired stuff is not moved out of the store for months afterward!
The store draws quite a crowd around 7 or so. There is no minimum required for credit card purchases.

This place has a lot to offer, but they don't get the newest movies at first, which is a bad thing if you watch a lot of indian movies and expect a new one every week. The owner is very friendly, but it would be hard for a non-HIndi speaking person to shop here. They also have a wide selection of groceries

I had this Indian friend of mine who had a party at his house and I had a wonderful appetizer called a samosa. I have looked in many Indian grocers looking for this type of meat samosa but most of them do not carry it. But I finally stumbled on this location and they had it! It tasted pretty good too. Also, they have a lot of stuff for sale in the dry goods section but lack in the fresh produce department. While this place is not too big, it is much bigger than many of the other ones in town. I highly recommend India Grocers!

More
Hong Kong Market has one of the best selections of East Asian produce in the DFW area. The large grocery also has a meat/fish market and aisles and aisles of packaged products, most of them Chinese but also from Japan, Korea, and other countries. There is a media area at the front of the supermarket, selling Asian movies and music. If you enter the right entrance of the building, you'll find yourself in an area immediately adjacent to the supermarket that has some restaurants selling quick meals, as well as a bakery. There's also a mini-shop selling Japanese, Korean, and Chinese character goods, including the much-coveted Tarepanda plushies.
Some of the products they sell in the supermarket-proper are expired, so beware of buying packaged products. They are highly recommended though for their selection of fresh foods.

More
This small desi store in Richardson is pretty much a typical grocery for South Asian goods. They sell a number of spices, vegetables, and imported drinks like Pakola and Maaza, as well as other more conventional imported foods like Nutella (it's cheaper here than at a standard grocery, too). They have a halal meat market off to the side as well as a small restaurant, and also a media shop selling and renting (mostly pirated) Indian DVDs. There's also a number of newspapers for sale in Bengali, Urdu, English, and maybe a few other languages, and some of them are free also. The people who work there are nice enough. I wouldn't say the selection is as good as some of the bigger stores not that far away (notably Taj Mahal Imports and Subzi-Mandi), but they do offer a bit of a different selection in that they cater more toward Pakistani customers. It's convenient to a lot of the Chinese and Vietnamese businesses in the area.

While other Indian grocery stores are booming and expanding, Patel Brothers is dying. With lackluster service, higher prices, and a terrible location, it not a big surprise why it’s losing business. Terrible location must be a curse for this establishment because the previous location was equally as bad. Unless you have to, it is better to shop somewhere else like Taj Mahal imports, which is one mile away.
