I have been at Kingsland since 1987 and love it. Kingsland is a great place for families. My two daughters love Sunday School, Church, Vacation Bible School and much more. My husband and I attend at home bible fellowship that we adore and the Sunday School classes for adults are incredible too. They welcome people with open arms and will do their best to make you feel comfortable and get "plugged in." Our pastor says that we are an organism not an organization...I love that!

I love exercising at our local YMCA. It is conveniently located and they have a good "Childwatch" program to leave the kids with. The staff is very friendly and low key. They did not pressure me to join when I toured, they just presented the information and let me decide on my own. (A friend toured another gym and they called back 10 times to see if she would join...ugh!) I also like that they are a Christian organization.
They offer classes, weights and lots of cardio equipment. In addition, there are lots of family and kids programs that my children will enjoy as they get older.

More
Maud Marks Library is part of the Harris County Library system. It is located on Westgreen near Highland Knolls next to a fire station. This library is small compared with some of the larger, newer branches, but it offers some unique features.
Because the Harris County Library is such a large system, they offer just about every book, video, and CD ever made. They have a great online reservation system that allows you to request items to be delivered to your branch. Because their checkout period is only 2 weeks and because they often have multiple copies of the items, the requests are usually filled very quickly.
One feature that I like about this library is the display they have of the current bestsellers. This poster near the fiction books allows me to search for other books by the best selling authors if I am coming up with a blank on what to check out.
This library has an extensive children's collection since they are not a new library just beginning their purchases. Their board books are displayed in plastic bins which allows little hands to search easily. One negative about this library is that they don't have other activities (puzzles etc) for little ones. Because of the limited space, the most they have is a table with some blocks.
I highly recommend the storytimes taught by Ms. Judy. These are a toddler time Wednesdays at 11:15 and an infant time (through 15 mths or so) Thursdays at 10:15 and 11:15. The other story times are Tuesday 10:15 and 11:15 and Wednesday at 10:15. These are pretty good, but Ms. Judy made such a difference in the early lives of my kids! I attended the infant and toddler times with Ms. Judy from 2002-2005. She still remembers both of my kids names and chats with them everytime we go to the library. She is really a special asset for this library, and makes my children feel very special. My only warning is that these sessions tend to be VERY crowded!

The Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church is a very new age church that is more modern then the other churches that I have seen in the area. It is in more of a theater style with the alter in the middle which is not traditional. Throughout the mass a lot of the formalities were not there. There seems to be more of a fellowship focus though throughout the church. The youth is very involved. If you are looking for more traditional catholic this is not the place.

I have always loved reading, and so public libraries have always been a favorite place for me. I have lived in many different places and I know that some are better than others. We are very fortunate now because the Cinco Ranch Branch Library is wonderful! It is located off of Cinco Ranch Boulevard just across from Cinco Ranch High School. The library building itself is building and it is surrounded by green grass, walkways, a lake, and even a bridge.
The library has wonderful programs for children of all ages and you can view their calendar online at: http://calendar.fortbend.lib.tx.us/menuc.asp
They offer a "Mother Goose" story time for infants, a "Toddler Time" for children ages 18 months-3 years, "Story Time" for preschool-aged children, a "School Age Program" and a "Young Adult club" for youth ages 10-14. They also offer a "Pajama Storytime" once a week for all ages.
My daughter loves the toddler story time. They hold it in the meeting room that is just to the left as you enter the library. There is usually a pretty large gathering of parents and toddlers and most people sit on the floor although they do have a few chairs available. They provide parents with a hand-out each week of the "agenda" and it includes the books that will be read and the words and movements for the songs and activities. They do a great job of keeping the children engaged and of mixing books with finger plays, songs and activities, and the people presenting are always very energetic. When the story time is over, they have a craft afterward. I am always amazed at how organized they are. They have an individual "pencil box" with the needed items for each child and then people handing out the pictures and other materials.
The children's section of the library is very large and they have a "help desk" as well. The people who work there have always been very friendly and helpful. There are different areas throughout the children's section where children can stop and play. There is a dollhouse in one area and a big Lego's play table in another area. There are rocking chairs so you can stop and read a book with your child or small tables with wooden play toys like animals and an abacus. There are also computers and stations with headsets and tape recorders so children can listen to books on tape. I usually have to drag my daughter out of here!
They also have a section for "young adults" that his trendy red chairs with a "coffee table" in the middle. This is located right by the big windows so you have a great view of the lake outside. It's a great place to curl up and read or to visit quietly with friends and I love that they have this available!
During the summer months, they are offering a summer reading club for kids of all ages. You can register for this in the "children's" area of the library. The children can read the books themselves or have someone else read them. You keep a log of the books you have read and when you reach twenty, you get a trophy (there are other "prizes" along the way for every five books that you read).
Some other features that are available at the library include: a computer lab (you can make a reservation or just "walk in"), free WiFi access for people with laptops, and printing and scanning services. They also have study rooms available on the second floor. When my brother was preparing to take the LSAT he loved to come here to study.
I love the convenience that this location offers in that you can access the library catalog online http://ipac.fortbend.lib.tx.us/#focus and then you can request books (if they are checked out), put a hold on books, or renew books that you already have. You can access a listing of the library hours and more information about the location here: http://www.fortbend.lib.tx.us/branches/cr.html
If you have not checked out this library yet, you are missing out on one of our community's better resources!

This is a great preschool that offers programs for ages 2 through kindergarten. The teachers and parents are very involved and it shows. Everyone has a real concern for the children here and all seem so friendly. My child loves her teacher and looks forward to attending every few days. It is really a good bargain too.

The staff is always helpful and they have all you would need to get things professionally done. The turn around time for copies and special projects are great and much less time than a larger company might take. The store is always clean and well stocked. The prices are a little higher than the post office but it is worth paying the extra since the lines are much shorter and your waiting time is much less!
