I have only eaten at Ten Tables once, but before eating, I heard nothing but great things! When I called for reservations, the guy at the other end of the line was really accommodating to my idiosyncratic changes. Very patient, nice, and professional! (If I had taken his name, I would have purchased a thank you card for him!)
When we arrived, we had to wait a little longer after our reservation time - about 10 minutes - during which we perused the lovely flower shop next door (which does the flower work for Ten Tables). Because it was a Wednesday, there was a prix fixe menu that included an appetizer, a main, and a dessert for $29, which allowed my date and me to purchase a bottle of wine. For the appetizer, I had a chilled soup with a pistachio pistou, and for the main I had some freshly made bucatini with calamari and vegetables. The soup was such a pleasant surprise, and perfect on a summer?s day. The pasta?s freshness was clear and perfect for the array of calamari and veggies. It was so apparent from the taste of the food that the chefs really care about each dish they put out! The only disappointing meal was the dessert. The profiteroles were edible and pleasant, but not as surprising as the previous courses, and the mint ice cream had too much fresh mint!! The waiter was nice and informative, and the price was pure perfection! I can?t wait to try the vegetarian tasting menu!
Pros: Amazingly fresh food, superb ambience, inviting, intimate
Cons: Desserts were not as "amazing"

Looking for outdoor eating in the city is sometimes tough for parents with 2 small children. I drive by the Alchemist every night, and always thought of going there with the husband and kids, but felt it might not be the best place for us...we took a chance and went one Friday night, sat in the patio area, and SURPRISE? out came the crayons and paper for the kids to color with! The staff was extra nice to us...I went in search of a bathroom with my 2 year old and came up short, until a lovely young man showed us the "WC" near the bar. It was a fun night out for us. We'll definitely do it again. Oh yes! And the food ain't bad either...The Alchemist burger with it's over-easy egg on top was delicious! So was my daughter's flat bread pizza.
Pros: Great burgers, great staff!
Cons: Loud patio seating

I'm a little embarassed to admit that I first came to Doyle's because it was featured regularly on the old television show Boston Public. But once I got there, I didn't care what had brought me in, because I was glad that I'd found such a warm, homey place serving great food and drinks. Local brews are available on tap, and the seafood casserole and sweet potato fries are both outstanding. This place just makes you want to curl up in a booth with a few friends and drink the night away.

Bukhara looks sort of schmancy, and it's a little more expensive than its siblings on the other side of the river. However, it's a relaxing place to eat and the food is always good. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well as some things you don't often see, like chaats. The daily buffet is around $8, a little more on weekends. Park on the street or behind the bank after 6pm.

The Omakase here is the best!!!!!! Great friendly Sushi Chefs, and servers. I also love their grilled fish dinners and Bibimbops. A Must Try: Scallion Pancake! YUMMMMM.. It's too bad that I don't live nearby, I would come here everyday.
Pros: Great foods, service, and energy
Cons: This is a popular restaurant, so be expected to wait, especially on weekend nights.

This place never lets me down. Its most striking characteristic is a hideously ugly facade. This doesn't prevent people who know its rep from flocking. The sushi and Korean fare are alway on-point. The servers I've had were consistently cool, friendly and attentive.
Attractive wine-by-the-glass options. Clean, modern atmosphere, lots of light wood, some beautiful people sightings.
Like any place on Centre St., make sure you have a Master Plan for where you are going to deposit your car. Follow up with coffee or ice cream at JP Licks.

Bella Luna has delicious pizza with a chewy crust and some fabulous topping combinations. You can go simple here, or go for one of their combos, like eggplant, ricotta and spinach. The place is very crowded dinner hour on weekends, with reason. They take reservations. Everything is good here, from the bread with olive oil to the desserts. For a solitary book-reading evening, take yourself there early in the week for a glass of wine and small pizza. The spinach salad is excellent.

I highly recommend Bukhara. The food here is great, always fresh, always perfectly prepared, the portions are so big that there is always enough left for lunch and/or dinner the next day - and the price is great. Where can you get three meals for under $20. Indian food was new to me in 1999 when Bukhara opened and the wait staff has always been very helpful in explaining the dishes. I love this place. It is worth making a special trip to JP. The restaurant decor is very charming. The free parking in the back is a plus. But the best thing about Bukhara is the food. I have never had a bad experience here. And I have never been told they were out of an item I wanted to order. I encourage everyone to try this restaurant. The food is so delicious! My personal favorite is the chicken tikka masala - this tomatoe sauce is the best I have ever had - my compliments to the Chef! Bukhara is the jewel of Jamaica Plain. Keep up the good work!
Pros: Food, food, food! Portions, free parking
Cons: None

The Guinness was the best I have ever had in the States. If my eyes were closed I would swear I was in Ireland. The most perfect pour and the best tasting. Glad to see you all know how to clean your lines.
The French Dip was very good and excellent for the price. The meat was moist and full of flavor. The bread was fresh also.
The bartender and staff went out of their way to make one feel at home.
I will be back. GUINES
Pros: The Guinness was the best ever.
Cons: Should be more Pubs
