I have recently had the misfortune of having some horrible car problems. Patrick and his crew at West Cork Auto were recommended by friends, so we took the car there. This is, in my opinion, the best mechanic in Jamaica Plain. They are very honest, very upfront about costs and what needs to be done with your car, and have great Irish accents to boot! I have complete trust in them, and will be using them exclusively from now on.

Who knew you could love an auto repair shop this much? My husband and I have been bringing our two vehicles to Morrison's for the past four years. Here are just a few reasons why we've been so pleased:
1. They always finish the work the day we drop the vehicle off
2. They provide free oil changes!
3. They are efficient and organized: for example, keep track of everything they've done and what needs to be done to your vehicle in their computer system.
4. They know us by name. A sad testimony to the condition of our vehicles perhaps, but I like to think that it has more to do with the fact that it is a friendly, family-run business.
5. They explain everything to you in layman's terms without making you feel like you're dumb--no matter where you lie in the spectrum of automotive knowledge.
6. They "talk shop" with my three year old son, supporting his single-minded obssession with cars.
If you go, tell them Emily and Ed sent you!

I have been using Keegan's for about 3.5 - 4 years and found them to be consistently reliable. They don't sugarcoat things. Their hourly rate is pretty expensive I think $75 an hour. But then again I don't know what rates are. Russ Keegan does what he says and if he cant do it when he says he will tell you when he can and how much it will cost. I have been very happy with their service and would recommend to anyone in the Jamaica Plain area.

This is a fun place that seems out of the 70's -- like the pryor movie "Car Wash."
But without the singing.
Here there are coin-operated cleaning bays where you can race against the timer to wash your car. Although it seems cheaper initially, I always find that it's more expensive than taking it through the machine.
The big automatic car wash isn't bad, and the prices here are less than you might expect.
Look for coupons if possible, but I've yet to find any.
A fun place to do-it-yourself during summer. In winter, the auto wash is the place to go. It's too cold to spray your own car.

If you speak Spanish, this could be a great garage. If you don't, it still might be okay. Depends who's working. A friendly atmosphere in a neighborhood way. At times completely disorganized -- no receipts, no language, no sense of what has been done to your car. But the prices are fair and the repairs are usually good and fast.
Best to try different times of day -- see who's working, aim for a personal relationship with one of them. This is not one of those overcrowded garages where you have to leave your car for days. They will look at it quickly and fix it quickly too.
It just might take a little time to figure out who did what when.
It's all part of the adventure.

July 9 2008 at about 5:13 pm I had experience extremely rude and offensive treatment from the store manager and owner Eduardo Vasallo Sr.
I basically walked into the store to simply make a purchased on a defective product (Nology Hotwires) that was purchased and returned by me 6yrs ago. The current same product that I have and was exchanged for is no longer operative/working condition. I proceeded to explain to the owner that I purchased this a long time ago and was only looking for 2 of the wires and possibly purchase the entire defective kit if need be.
I felt completely humiliated as the store was filled with customers and the presence of others employees as he started to raise his voice. I was forced to be watched by others as he yelled at me and said I brought nothing but problems to the store all the time and that I always wanted everything cheap I was astound at his behavior due to the fact for the last eight yrs I've contributed nothing but a good loyal friendship and provided a hand and service through harsh times when they needed. He (owner) did not go into trouble by asking me what I wanted or needed with the defective ignition wires instead he just jumped into a conclusion and assaulted me verbally. After all the screaming yelling and accusations I wish I had never bought this product from this store 6-7 yrs ago and had also never stopped by to repurchased defective kit as I only needed 2 wires.
He questioned the fact as to why the store manager never returned this kit to the company they??????ve purchased it from and said that this is money they??????ve lost a long time ago as they pay for this already. I made him aware that the only reason I returned the items was because the kit was defective and was causing my vehicle to malfunction/misfiring in the cylinders, afterwards he raised his voice and said that no one??????s allowed to return a used item rega
