Ardenwood Historical Farm 4/30/2006

Ardenwood Historical Farm is a pretty good farm to go to. There are many different types of activiies for the children that i must say is quite enjoyable when you are young. I think a parent should bring their child here to experience the great ourdoors. I highly recommend this place. more

Ardenwood Farm 8/17/2005

I went there for a field trip once and it was fun! Some workers there dressed up to fit the time period and teach the kids about the past. The whole place is historical and full of things to do. There's a place where they'll put your name on a horseshoe for just $5! It's a great place for kids to learn and for adults to relax more

Ardenwood Historical Farm 8/16/2005

I visited Ardenwood Historical Farm a while back when our youth group made a field trip there. This farm is home of the Patterson Ranch, a luxurious Victorian mansion and botanical garden. The farm is still operational, and grows organic crops throughout the year, which are sold near the main gate area. It's a welcome change of pace for city folk, as you get to experience (and even take part in) 19th century farming and agricultural practices. Admission is cheap, around $5 when I went there (probably about the same today). more

a fun place to take the kids 8/14/2005

Ardenwood Farm generally isn't too thrilling for grown-ups. It's basically a picnic grounds and historical famrhouse. But for kids this is a whole different story. There are a number of different famr animals, and some you can even get close to! They let the fowl (chickens, turkeys, roosters and peacocks) run around so you can get as close as you like. This provides hours of entertainment for your smallest critics. On weekend special events can provide some more fun, but the admission price rises accordingly. more

fun and educational 8/12/2005

There’s lots to do at Ardenwood. You can pet the farm animals. You can see people dressed in costumes at the market, where you can also by food and goods, and where you can see craftsmen ply their trade. You can see the Civil War re-enactment, complete with horses and a cannon. more

Get lost in time 8/11/2005

Particularly good for their re-enactments of the civil war on Memorial Day, this old-fashioned farm pulls out all the stops to make you believe that you've stepped back in time to a hundred years ago. Volunteers dressed in traditional clothing help complete the illusion, re-enacting turn of the century activities such as spinning wool into yarn, hammering out horseshoes at the blacksmiths' shop, and carting visitors around in horse-drawn hayrides. Helping make the hand-cranked ice cream is just one of the events that kids (and adults) will love. more

Nice place to take city kids 8/10/2005

Ardenwood Farm is a working farm that has kept a Victorian farm atmosphere. Kids can learn about the work of a farm, there is a train, and lots of animals out by the barnyard. There is also picnic and party areas, nice for birthdays. more
