If you can't find what you are looking for anywhere, you will find it at the Erie Book Store. Great place to spend an afternoon and browse. You will keep going back! It is very casual and very friendly. The staff is very knowledgeable. It kind of reminds you of the movie "You've Got Mail" and the bookstore in the movie. It's small and doesn't have that huge bookstore experience. It's cozy and fun.

While the big chain stores like Borders and Barnes and Noble have a lot to offer, Books Galore gives you a nice local touch. Its a typical small book store - you can find comic books - both new and used - many many books of all types - new and used as well. And if you are looking for a book you cannot find - just ask, and they will be happy to order it for you!!!

I absolutely love Barnes & Noble. It's the perfect place to just grab a cup of coffee and curl up on one of their comfy couches with a really good book. It's a good place to study too, but personally I prefer places with free wireless, which Barnes & Noble does not have. I could easily spend a whole day here.

Tobacco products, magazines, cards, newspapers, lottery tickets, check cashing, snacks and soda pop, anything but the kitchen sink you can get at the State News and Variety Store. These types of stores may look "shady" but I get good service here, even better than some of the more "fru fru" establishments downtown. It is small and cramped, sometimes the line is long but it's worth it for those quick purchases (no one is in here with a shopping buggy full of stuff.) Open from early morning until late in the evening.

This store is great. We bought several religious items there, mainly a very well made, yet modestly priced rosary. They also sell many nice gifts suitable for weddings, baptisms and other religious occasions. I loved the variety of the gifts available which would be suitable for Catholic gift giving. They also had other Christian items, but it is very hard to find a store that caters to Catholics.
PROS: Catholics, shop here!

Ok, all those closet geeks that love to read and dive into a good book for an afternoon raise your hand. That's what I thought... you're out there. If you enjoy a quiet afternoon or evening with a good book then Border's is the place for you. While their music area tends to be slightly more expensive than, let's say WalMart or Best Buy, they offer a great deal more and will special order anything you might want that they don't have.
Their book selection is wonderful and again, while some of it may be slightly higher than something you would purchase at WalMart the selection alone is worth staying on the lower Peach Street level, not to mention the slightly less crazy traffic as you can slip off I-79 directly into the drive that goes to Borders, outside the mall area.
What I love most and is most enticing to those of us who just simply want to disappear for a few hours in a good book and cup of java is the café that is tucked into the corner of the store. You can order a big cup of coffee or whatever your taste buds crave and slip into a comfortable table or overstuffed chair to read a good book. They even sometimes have some comforting local performers there to soothe you with some jazz or light rock.
They also have a fairly good magazine area that has a lot of hard to find publications and their kids area is really pretty good. They offer a computer to help you look for books you can't find, which I found especially helpful in the children's section! They sometimes run special readings and fun stuff in the children's area also.
All in all, a good experience for anyone who loves books!

This book store is awful. You can hardly move in the store it's so small and crowded. It looks like they try to pack as many books as possible into this tiny store. The prices are also crazy. Because it's located in a mall they raise the prices. I'm not really sure how they are still in business because I never see people in the store.
