I love to eat Italian cookies and this shop sells them! You can't get baked goods like this at the supermarket. IB also sells pepperoni bread, other cookies and other baked goods. My friend had International Bakery's cookies at his wedding reception. A huge hit. Bellisimo! IB"s hours are very convienient.

This is one of the few remaining independent bakeries in Erie. They started as a German bakery many years ago and still have a great "cimmakucha" as my Mom would have said. They have all types of pastries, breads and cakes. At Lenten time they also have great fasnacht keukles, a light and airy donut.

If you're from Erie, you know Arnone's.
Walk into the past as you enter this very old, wooden floored store that never seems to come into this century and loves where it's stuck.
In the heart of what was once known as Little Italy, Arnone's still offers what we all came to love... good Italian food and imports.
From the pieces of pizza to the calzones. From the whole loaf Italian bread submarines to the fresh baked goods in the bakery counter. There's rarely a time you will walk in and not feel like you've stepped back into time to visit Mama's kitchen.
Excellent food, reasonable prices and tons of imports you can stop here for everything and everything you can think of when it comes to Italian food. Sandwiches, cakes, cookies, soft drinks, pepperoni bread, pizza and more. If you simply want to step back in time, step into Arnone's.

Face it, some things are just tradition for Halloween and shouldn't be messed with!
Here in Erie we have our local favorites for the Halloween parties..... cider and donuts.
Of course where better to pick up some fresh baked donuts then Mighty Fine Donuts?!
Still cheaper than the newest "Kreme" donuts that have invaded the area and still locally owned and operated the Mighty Fine Donut has long since been a staple at everyone's party! With typical flavors and a great selection you can pick up the old stand-by any time of day or night as they're open 24 hours!
Don't forget, along with donuts they offer cookies, muffins and my absolute favorite, cinnamon pinwheels too! For convenience they have milk to go along with those donuts for those of you who don't want to hit the cider mill too!
Don't feel like eating yours with the kids at the party? Sit down and relax, eat your donuts there at the table!
While the business itself has always seemed a bit 'unkept', they're really one of the best donuts you can get and we would all love to see the local owners stay in business! Make your donuts and cider "Mighty Fine" for this year's Halloween party!

This Canadian based franchise is locally owned by a couple that brought their Canadian roots to Erie. I love Erie being a "Hockey Town" and the addition of 2 Tim Horton's restaurants just confirms that we are that way to stay!
Their baked goods are wonderful and their double chocolate cheesecake is to die for!!! Let's not talk calories... just flavor... it will make the conversation much 'lighter'!!!
Of course they are known for their wonderful donuts, and my favorites are the timbits, but they offer so much more. They have a wonderful baked goods case filled with muffins, cakes, donuts, cheesecakes and more. Better yet, go for an entire dinner that includes a bowl of hot soup, always fresh, an awesome sandwich. These aren't your burger joint style burgers... far from it. They offer some great varieties of sandwiches on a great bun for an excellent taste.
While at first glance the prices seem a little high for a 'meal deal' you have to put it into perspective... you are getting the entire meal.. including dessert. You also have to remember you get what you pay for with excellent products with great flavor. Nothing run of the mill from this chain restaurant.
I'd recommend it for everything from a quick drive thru breakfast to a nice sit down dinner with friends and family. Drive thru is open 24 hours too!

This particular branch of Giant Eagle is a good choice for the East Siders and those coming from North East. While the competition of Wal Mart seems to have put a bit of a squeeze on a lot of stores in this particular area I think Giant Eagle can hold it's own with their great sales and excellent bakery.
Check out their specials online too at http://www.gianteagle.com to see what they have on sale this week. They also run their sales slightly different than most grocery stores, beginning on Thursdays instead of Sundays.
This particular branch is always clean and well kept. They offer a place to drop the kids off if you need some time to shop on your own. Their pharmacy is quite handy and their deli offers some good sales sometimes.
Like most any grocery store, you have to watch for the specials!

What Halloween party would be complete without some fresh apple cider to wash down those yummy, sugary donuts?!
Erie is lucky enough to boast one of the best apple cider mills ever, but don't hesitate as their season is short and the cider goes quick!
Furhman's Cider Mill has been a staple for many families in the Erie area. While I feared that the newer pasteurizing laws would change their flavor, they've managed not only to keep that great tasting cider flowing from their taps but now you don't have to fear the possible health hazards of unpasteurized cider!
Along with picking up a gallon or two of cider at the Mill, you can visit their bakery and fruit stand. Take your own container in for a little discount each time or just pick up one of their containers and reuse it over and over as you get refills! Don't forget to try out their different 'flavors' of cider that they've created by adding some other fruit flavors! And my favorite part, you can pick up individual containers to drink along the way if you decide to go out for a Sunday drive!
Fuhrman's Cider is truly the best there is!

The cooler temperatures and turning of leaves can only mean one thing.... Halloween is near! What would a Halloween celebration be without a wonderful pumpkin pie to bring in the flavors of fall?
While everyone thinks they can create a great pumpkin pie, I can honestly say it's rare to find one that you want to eat over and over again unless it's homemade. But fear no more, you can finally eat homemade flavor without all the work!
Art's Grocery and Bakery has long been a staple in many homes for their wonderful baked goods but many have forgotten one of the best things they make..... their awesome pumpkin pies! Slightly spicy and nice and creamy with a nearly perfect crust these pies are priced fairly. They almost always have a few in the case but if you want to be sure of getting yours you might want to call the day before and place an order. And don't forget, you can order a bunch of pies for a great Halloween get together. Add a gallon of cider and you have an instant great fall gathering for kids and adults alike!

Wegman's is by far the best supermarket I've been to. They have food from all over the world and you will definitely find the freshest produce in town. The desserts they make at the bakery are more than delicious, and they have various prepared food bars throughout the store (chinese, pizza, salad, hummus, etc.) They also make some really good salads at the deli. It's a little more expensive than other supermarkets, but it's probably worth it.

I think it's kind of funny that some people think her cake is so great. I know for a "fact", that she uses box cake mixes. I opened them myself. Her decorating is beautiful and unique. But her prices are also very expensive. JMHO
