HORRIBLE COMPANY. 4/19/2016

Avoid this company at all costs. Subexpress issue ticket with Subexpress and Illiniskuffle logos but failed to print on the ticket that bus would be subcontract by GreenRivr line. Bus was missed as a result. I stopped payment and they postedmy personal info in their website without my permission. They have lost my business permanently. more

Avoid Suburban Express at all costs. 8/21/2014

Avoid Suburban Express at all costs. Our son's flight was delayed by few hours, I called the company to see if he can get on the next bus from the airport to his destination. There were seats available on the bus, but I was told that I needed to purchase a new ticket. Considering that the ticket needed to be printed and he was already boarding, there was no way for him to get the ticket even if we purchased a new one. This company is pathetic. more

Worst. Bus. Company. EVER 5/16/2013

After riding this bus and witnessing the owner say offensive and vulgar things to students, I will no longer take this bus. STAY AWAY!!!! more

very very rude 4/7/2013

they are very very rude. that's all I have to say. if you don't wanna ruin your whole day, don't get on their bus. more

The owner has a serious inferiority complex 3/19/2013

The bus was nice the driver was nice but I was truly amazed at the owners behavior. He behaved like a child throwing a temper tantrum. I just wanted to get home, not be treated disrespectfully. If you ride with them be prepared to be verbally accosted by the owner. I will not be using them again. more

Service was okay but the workers are serious warped. 9/25/2012

I had to get from campus to chicago and back for the weekend. So I thought i give them a try. I didn't like greyhound as there were times it wouldn't come at all, or overbooking issues. Customer service? What's that? Booking process was strange. Suburban Express essentially thinks low of their customers, not to mention the level of competence in constructing policies is child-like. I mean, serious who actually claims to 'ban people for life" for violate, in some case, silly policies. Only people on power trips use such language. The ticket print was different. I would think it would be easier for them to generate a ticket on a PDF that's more dexterous than their current one. The bus trip to my destination was okay. The bus driver was pretty decent. I cant say the same for many greyhound drivers. Upon returning to campus, is when I experienced the other staff. Standing outside the doorway of the bus was the driver, some kind of coordinator and a guy with a shirt of the company name on it. A student had already got on the bus for a moment but i believe his mother wanted to give him something. When the student went down the stairs, in a course language, this coordinator sternly told him to "Get back on the bus!" The mother stood there and watched, of course. The student mentioned why we needed to leave the bus briefly, but before he could complete the sentence, this coordinator yelled, "This is how it works, You give your ticket to the driver, load your bag and get on the bus. You don't leave the bus!" The student, of course, returned to his seat. Moments later, he proceed to bash students from "eastern schools"; Mentioning how much of a "dumba**" they are. Great, so apparently, you yell at customers and bash them accordingly. What happen to talking to others with respect? The guy is lucky he wasn't talking to me that way, i wouldn't tolerate it. Given the attitude of staff, strange policies, and other reviews of disgusting customer service and the owner, i would ride at your own risk. more

Sububan Express 7/9/2012

On July 6, 2012 our child travelled on Suburban Express from Champaign to Chicago, 100 degree plus heat and no air. Bus driver repeatedly told students the air would take a while, halfway to Chicago with passengers sweating and not feeling we'll, a student checked out controls himself and found the air was not on! Inexcusable, as passengers repeatedly told driver how hot and uncomfortable the bus was. The driver lied to them over and over. Dangerous and unsafe! more

Most unfriendly 7/6/2012

I regret even trying to book a ticket on Illini Suttle, run by Suburban express. Each passenger must book separately using his own credit card since there is no input field for passenger name. And you can not have a child with you, neat! So once you become a mom or dad Illini Shuttle is not for you. Read their terms and policy page. It uses the most harsh language any company I have ever dealt with. Guess their dictionary does not have words like kindness, courtesy etc. Even airlines will not charge you if you lost ticket although they are significantly greater risk but Suburban would not fail to charge you no matter what. I would never ride them. Worst company policies ever. more

Bordering on unethical? Illegal?? 11/5/2011

Has anyone else had a problem with signing up for a ticket for a Suburban Express BUS, but then missed their bus because the same company instead sent the Illini SHUTTLE?? I am speaking with an attorney and will try to see if a class action lawsuit is feasible. more

Worst Customer Service I Have Ever Experienced 11/2/2011

Do not use this service. Or if you do, be very diligent about your ticketing with them, or it may cost you hundreds more dollars than you've expected. Here's my story: I had pre-purchased two tickets for travel with Suburban Express, for travel dates two weeks apart. Apparently, on the earlier date of travel, I accidentally used the ticket for the later date. An honest mistake, right? I didn't catch it, and the driver said nothing, though he seemed to have looked at my ticket. A month later, I get an email informing me of my infraction. Not only would I be charged $30 for the ticket, I would also be charged $100 "as stated in the terms and conditions," for ticket fraud. Ticket fraud?! I contacted the company, gave them the reservation numbers for both tickets, trying to prove to them that I was a legitimate customer who had made an honest mistake. The customer service representative said they'd review my case and get back to me. A few weeks later, still not having heard anything from them, I called to check. They said my case had been denied and there was nothing--nothing--I could do about it. Sure, I'd read the terms and conditions and knew about the fee; sure, I should've looked more carefully at the ticket I'd brought with me to the shuttle. But don't we all make honest mistakes? Don't expect to make a mistake with Suburban Express. People who make mistakes are considered frauds. Up until this experience, I'd had a decent time with this company. But now I will choose from among the many other shuttle companies in C-U that offer the same service. If you choose to ride with them, just be REALLY careful about which ticket you take with you and don't expect your rock-solid proof of purchase to mean anything. more

Totally awesome 7/20/2009

Suburban Express blows away LEX and Illini Express and Amtrak 12/26/2006

LEX Sucks donkey balls. Their buses are third-worldish, and their drivers are biggest losers I've ever met. I used to ride LEX, but then I took Suburban Express because a girl I know was riding them, and I want to ride her, so I bought one of their tickets. The difference was quite significant. The Suburban Express buses departed and arrived on time, the drivers knew how to get where they were going, the bus was nice and clean, and the drivers never farted - not once. It was like bizarro LEX - exactly the opposite. Anyhow, based on my experiences, I'd have to say that Suburban Express is really good, and that LEX sucks. more

Suburban Express is much better than the alternatives... 11/28/2006

1) It runs on time. 2) The price is a little higher than the alternatives, but it's worth an extra couple bucks to get a reliable ride. 3) Their buses are nice 4) Their employees don't put up with any b.s. from people who can't follow a few simple rules. more

BooHoo Kathryn F 11/28/2006

Not only are you stupid, you're a sissy. What did you think would happen if you tried to use a ticket which is not valid? This will happen to you at concerts, on planes, and anywhere else that you purchase a date or time specific ticket. Instead of crying and blaming others, you should kill yourself. more

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS BUS AND ANYONE WHO WORKS FOR THEM 10/20/2006

I have to say dealing with the suburban express staff could have been one of the worst experiences of my life. The people there are some of the worst human beings I have even encountered. I was left crying and stranded after they printed me a ticket for the wrong day, by accident...I think not. Upon realizing their mistake they in a friendly tone offered me another ticket, for a small price of 26 dollars. They would GLADLY sell me another, no problem for them. I would strongly advise anyone reading this to give no time effort and most of all money into this horrible buisness. more

Love Suburban Express 7/17/2006

I love Suburban Express because JK hates it. Party on, Suburban Express. more

Two thumbs up! 7/14/2006

I like Suburban Express. They get you home very quickly, without unnecessary stops or transfers. I've never had a problem with them. Plus, the owner likes to cast off bad customers, which makes things go more smoothly for those of us who can obey simple rules. It's great that cell phones aren't allowed at the ticket machines. I don't want to wait while someone yacks and yacks and yacks while tying up a machine. more

Top-notch bus service 7/14/2006

I've taken the train and other bus services, and Suburban Express is by far the best. They always run on time and their trips are very fast. more

Don't use Suburban Express 5/7/2006

A friend of mine was verbally assaulted while trying to by a ticket from Suburban Express. She was told she was a "F***ing little b****" by the owner, *******. This was provoked by her using a cell phone in the store. The owner then banned her for life and even found her e-mail address (I'm not sure how because he did not have her name) and sent her a written ban. I attempted to speak to the man and he quickly banned me for life as well as berating me with some colorful language. I know of several other people who have had a problem with the store and specifically the owner. I highly suggest you don't use their service. more

Suburban Express 4/2/2006

As a college student attending the University of Illinois, the service offered by Suburban Express is extremely convenient. Suburban Express, which typically runs weekends, offers students with a means of transportation back to the Chicago suburbs via chartered buses. With several stops on campus, and several drop-off points at suburban malls, as well as several departure times to choose from, Suburban Express is an easy, efficient way for students to come home for a weekend or holiday (there is also a service that allows visitors from the Chicago suburbs to visit the campus). Tickets can be a bit on the pricy side, but should be comparable to the money that would be spent on other modes of transportation. more
