PAON Restaurant & Wine Bar

Wow!! What a great restaurant! Steve Barr, formerly at the Winesellar and Brasserie, finally has his own place. Steve has done an amazing job with the menu, restaurant decor and service. It is great to see wonderful things happen to wonderful people. The food is so flavorful. I loved everything we had.....beet salad, asparagus soup, pork and the to die for strawberries with baslamic vinegar for dessert. Run, don't walk to Paon!! You will so happy you tried it. more

My husband and I have eaten here 3 or 4 times now and have enjoyed our meal each time. We try to sit outside because it does get a little noisy inside. We find the pricing every reasonable, about half of what we usually pay in Scottsdale, AZ and the staff are very accommodating, pleasant and knowledgeable about wine. We like to try something different each time but my husband loves their hamburger and flatiron pork. Nice food presentation. more

This place is amazing! I've eaten there a few times and have decided it's my favorite place in Carlsbad Village to eat. It's classy without being too stuck up. Like, you can order a bottle of wine and a cheese plate, not knowing anything about the two, and the waiter will educate you in a way to make you not feel stupid for not knowing. The food is amazing too. The asparagus soup is so good! The steaks are fantastic! The next time I go I'm ordering a burger because I've heard multiple people talk about them while I've been there. The owner is really cool too. He's a nice guy who takes the time to talk to all the guests and makes you leave feeling like his new friend. Nothing but good things to say about this restaurant... if your by Carlsbad Village, it's definitely worth a try!? more

One of the best French Restaurants in San Diego. We sat inside and cannot wait to come back for another meal on their unbelievable patio. Started out with the escargot which by far on the top of the list in San Diego. Meaty, garlicky and just all around superb! Then to the entrees - Duck and Scallops. The Duck prepared to perfection and the Scallops - a dish that was almost liked from its plate was to die for. Largest scallops around. Completed the meal with two crème which was fine..not amazing but good and their brownie which is more like fudge. I'd go back for that fudge brownie any time. Oh and the wine...thank you! thank you thank you - to having a good variety! The decor inside is about Peacock...that is what Paon means in French. Worth the drive up - a great addition to the North County Foodies list~ more
