When on vacation, I ALWAYS seek out the Children's museums! When visiting a friend near San Diego, I let her in on my secret... She was amazed at what we found... I on the other hand expected no less.
The Carlsbad Children's Museum is amazing and takes away a lot of the scary part of growing up. There is a little store, that lets children be the grocer, and even use the register! Children can learn about colors and bubbles and sounds. They learn the scientific things, but in the disguise of PLAYING!!
I like to go myself... I mean bring my children... so I can learn more, AND return to my childhood adventures.

I graduated here in 1998, and those were 4 good years of my life. CHS has been around for a long time, and there is plenty of school spirit along Lancer Way. The football teams are almost always good, and the other sports seem to do well also. There have always been good academics here as well, and many students have gone on to competitive colleges and universities.

Very cool gym. They have a great atmosphere and it's a lot of fun. Kids love it! it's a great place for birthday parties, or a good way to spend your afternoon there with the kids. They absolutely love it, it's cheap, and your kids will fall asleep as soon as you get home. If that doesn't sell, I don't know what would! :) Definitely check it out!

This is an elementary school in Carlsbad for grades k-5. It is a very high achieving school and tends to score very well on their standardized tests. Don't ask my opinion on those tests though; if that is important to you though, the school does well in that area.
The teachers are well-versed in current methodology and go above and beyond in the subjects. They really do strive to make learning fun for their students. The current principal, Steve Ahle, has definite mixed reviews from the parents and teachers.
The one negative to this school, in my view, is that it is a pretty homogeneous environment. Most belong to fairly well-off, Caucasian families. There were only 2 male teachers last year on the staff, the rest being primarily young women.

La Costa Canyon High School is my current school and is one of the best high schools I've seen in my area for social life. They have a wide range of after school activities and a perfect mix of tough schooling and focus on school sport. The greatest thing is the wide variety of electives and class choice, one disappointing thing is the limitation of certain one year courses.
