Best place for beer 2/28/2010

If you like to drink beer, you have to check out this place! Pros: Huge selection of beer on tap Cons: crowded more

Greeat Location, LB. 4/29/2009

Id' have to agree w/most of the comments below. I had a very difficult time getting my waitress to come and simply check up on us. Also, I didn't understand why she insisted on holding a credit card, especially considering that none of the other yard house locations do such a thing. When I asked her for the card back so I knew what I would be paying and splitting w/my party she gave me a hard time. I don't think I'll be dinning there again any time soon. Pros: Lots of great Beer Cons: Not the best service more

nice place 3/27/2009

This is located in a very nice part in Long Beach. The locals are all very cool and the employees are nice as well. They were very helpful in assisting me choose a beer to drink. The beer selection was bananas! Ive never seen so many beers on tap in my life. I'm coming back real soon. more

The cost of this establishment is too high for just ?fair? food and ?poor? service. 11/1/2008

I had heard that the Yard House had great food and was a fun place to eat. I went to two different locations on different dates. The first was Brea. The food was okay, just average. What was most frustrating was the service. We were celebrating a birthday. I wanted to treat my guests to drinks, but getting our server to come to our table was almost impossible. The next visit was to Long Beach. This time the food was disappointing. We ordered sliders. One had an adequate amount of beef. The others were pitiful. Basically, we were paying for bread and fries. Once again, the most difficult situation was getting attention from our server. As I looked around the room, I noticed I wasn?t the only one trying to get his attention. I don't blame the staff. The Yard House doesn't seem to plan adequately for the crowds in there establishments. That's it for me. I have decided the cost of this establishment is too high for just ?fair? food and ?poor? service. more

Quantity over quality 6/29/2008

I didn't have any food here, so I can't comment on that. However, I did order two beers, one was clearly not what I ordered and the other was flat and tasteless. The real problem was the condescending waitress who lectured me about how Fuller?s ESB and London Pride look and taste exactly the same, even after I had explained that I had a case of each at home. But to their credit, they didn?t charge me for that mistake, and I didn?t bother to mention the replacement was flat and tasteless? didn?t want to hear another lecture. Pros: Large amounts of on-tap beer Cons: poor quality of that beer and service more

Great place to eat! 11/29/2007

My favorite is their Chilean Sea Bass over steamed rice with edamame, bokchoy and soy ginger sauce, always perfectly cooked and it's very, very good. I don't really eat steaks anymore and I'd oftentimes settle for their shrimp or chicken vege bowls. The veges are always perfectly cooked and so yummy with shiitake mushrooms. For appetizers, try their Hawaiian Poke and don't forget to ask for a side of their wasabi soy. It's drizzled all around the poke but you do need more to really enjoy this dish. Sometimes I would just settle for poke and their Walnut Pear Salad for an early lunch. For dessert, try their fresh baked brownies with mint chocolate chip ice cream on top. Pros: Food is always great, extensive selection of beer Cons: It's considered a sports bar so it's really very noisy more

GOOD FOOD CRAZY ETHICS 9/25/2007

THE YARD HOUSE EXPERIENCE: I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY ABOUT THE YARD HOUSE, BUT THE CONSTANT REQUEST FOR MY CREDIT CARD WAS KILLING ME...WHEN WE FIRST GOT THERE THE STAFF NEEDED TO HOLD MY CREDIT CARD UNTIL WE WERE SEATED, O'KAY FINE. I GOT MY CARD BACK, THEN THE STAFF CAME AND ASKED MY PARTY FOR A CREDIT CARD TO HOLD UNTIL WE FINISHED DINING AND PAID OUR BILL...MMM, LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN STIFFED BEFORE TO PUT IT MILDLY...I HAD A PARTY OF 12 PEOPLE AND WE SPENT A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY, NOT TO MENTION THE GRATUITY THAT WAS ADDED ON THE BILL...SO BACK TO THE CREDIT CARD REQUESTS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE NIGHT, DIDN'T SIT WELL WITH ME...AS THE BILL WAS BEING PAID IN CASH ANOTHER WAITER CAME TO ASK TO HOLD A CREDIT CARD UNTIL THE TRANSACTION WAS COMPLETED WITH THE CASH PAYMENT, BIZZARE...WHAT WAS WITH THAT? IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY AND THEY MADE ME FEEL AS IF OUR BUSINESS WASN'T APPRECIATED...I HAD A VERY MILD-MANNERED GROUP THAT LOVE THE PLACE AND THE FOOD & DRINKS, JUST NOT THE WAY WERE BEING TREATED...HOLD A CREDIT CARD WHILE WE PROCESS YOUR CASH TRANSACTION? IT WASN'T COUNTERFEIT MONEY , I PROMISE WE ALL HAVE REALLY GOOD JOBS AND WE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY THAT NIGHT AT THE BAR AND AT THE TABLE....IT LEFT ME FEELING LIKE I WAS A SUSPECT FOR DINE AND DASH..... more

Management may have potential racism issues 9/23/2007

On Saturday Sept 22nd 2007, I visited the Yardhouse to have a few drinks and celebrate a friends birthday. During the course of the evening, apparently the management had some trouble with an Indian(east Indian) patron, and decided to cut him off from purchasing any more alcohol. However the punitive action didnt end there. The management also summarily cut off any person in the restaurant who was Indian or looked Indian from purchasing any alcohol. The rationale being that we would buy beer and pass it off to those who were cut off. I am an Indian and had no affiliation with the trouble makers, however because of my ethnic makeup, I was also denied service. My girlfriend who is caucausian however, was served freely and without hinderance. I dont believe the yardhouse condones this type of behaviour, however they have a terrible problem in their backyard, in the form of a manager who may have race issues. Upon talking to the staff, who were very apologetic, I came to find out that the majority of the staff despise the manager, and were in agreement with my assesment of the situation. If you are black, hispanic, asian, be warned, you may find a 60s era jim crow experience if you choose to patronize the Yardhouse in Long Beach. more

too crowded 1/30/2007

the yardhouse is great and fun...i mean how many different kinds of beers can one choose from! but there is a long wait, especially on the weekends...but what do you expect....parking is only free for first two hours but hope that you get in before....other than that, its a great atmosphere with tons of fun, if you are going with the right people..no party downers Cons: long wait more

What else can I say but YARDS OF BEER!! Not only do you have a tremendous variety of beer but the food is great! I must admit, it gets a little loud in here but that's what makes it fun when you're with a group of friends! Try the Orange Chicken - it's fantastic! Pros: Lots of Variety, great food and atmosphere Cons: Gets a little loud more

500 Bottles of Beer on the Wall 9/20/2006

This place has every beer you can imagine. A crowded and congested spot, but situated in a great location near several other restaurants/ bars, nightclubs and movie theater. Great pick-up spot. Be sure to designate a driver...you're gonna need one. more

Good vegetarian food exists - but not here. 3/28/2006

I've been to the Yard House on many occasions, work-related and non-. Every time I went there for dinenr, I ended up with the same entree - angel-hair pasta with tomatoes. And each time, it was an abomination. Mushy, overcooked angel-hair (hint to the kitchen: it takes like 3 minutes to cook), underripe tomatoes (defintitely not roma), and so much salt that the dish was inedible. There really is no other decent veggie main dish. Nothing good to say about the food here. Pros: Location, drinks Cons: Food, Food, Food more

User review by joelmalan 4/18/2005

This place gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Expect to wait for 1-2 hours. Parking is free for the 1st 2 hours with validation, restaurant don't accomodate the long wait when it comes to parking validation--2 hours is all you get. What makes this restaurant like no other are the drink selection. Other than that its an average restaurant. Pros: beer selection, food variety Cons: crowded, parking more

Great Food and Beer! 6/28/2004

The Yard House is great! They have tons of beers on tap, and great food! The waiters/waitresses are pretty knowledgeable about the different beers and can help you decide on a new brew to try. Pros: Food Quality, Beer Selection more

Why?? 9/5/2003

We have enjoyed the Yard House for many years. Many of are boating buddies / groups like Scope and River Race X, have enjoyed being able to dock their boats below the Yard House and enjoy the beer and food. But now the Yard house will lose the boating world do to the limited space availiable for docking. Pros: Great food, Great Beer, Great View Cons: No parking 4 boats, No Parking 4 Boats, No parking 4 boats more

Crowded but fun 2/13/2003

If you love beer, this is the place for you. You have to be willing to wait though, for seating, for your food, and to use the restroom. It gets seriously crowded almost every night of the week at this place. Not the place for an intimate conversation. Pros: trendy, great beer variety, fun Cons: crowded, bathroom wait, seating wait more

so many choices 6/12/2002

I thought my head would spin. I could become an alcoholic if I didn't live so far from this place. Some of the beers are expensive, imports obviously. I'm hoping to advance one day to a yard. Service is pretty good. Cons: Parking more

  • The Yard House located in Long Beach, Calif., discontinued its yard-long glass in 2005. The move was made in part because the custom-made containers were expensive. Yard House also wanted to take a proactive approach to the alcohol consumption of its patrons.
