My friends and I went on a Thursday night to check out the food and the live performance of The Thugs - we were thoroughly impressed. The music was awesome, the atmosphere was casual, the drinks were STIFF, the food was great (got the sliders + fries - thumbs up!), and the prices were right.
The crowd was varied, from early 20s to a few old timers. All of them seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Also, take some of the earlier negative reviews with a grain of salt. The Gaslamp is under new ownership/management as of November, 2009, which may explain why my friends and I didn't observe any of the negative experiences as described by earlier reviews. We honestly had a great time from start to finish.
Give this place a try if you are looking for a night of great food/drinks, great service, great value, and great live music with your friends. You won’t be disappointed.

I LOVE this place! ...When I need a break from the second street crowd I can always count on the Auld Dubliner for some great live music and a lively crowd! This bar goes off on weekends, so it may take you a minute to get a drink. Be patient, I have never seen these bartenders slacking off if a thirsty customer is in sight. The layout of the bar is great, more than enough room even on the most crowded nights- unless you want a spot on the patio or right next to the bar.
Warning to the ladies... You will most likely need to park in the parking structure and walk if you come on a Friday or Saturday night. So don't wear uncomfortable shoes!! Also, this place is super low key, so but don't dress like you're going to a club or you will sick out like a sore thumb.
**The door guy will validate your parking!!**

My favorite is their Chilean Sea Bass over steamed rice with edamame, bokchoy and soy ginger sauce, always perfectly cooked and it's very, very good. I don't really eat steaks anymore and I'd oftentimes settle for their shrimp or chicken vege bowls. The veges are always perfectly cooked and so yummy with shiitake mushrooms. For appetizers, try their Hawaiian Poke and don't forget to ask for a side of their wasabi soy. It's drizzled all around the poke but you do need more to really enjoy this dish. Sometimes I would just settle for poke and their Walnut Pear Salad for an early lunch. For dessert, try their fresh baked brownies with mint chocolate chip ice cream on top.
Pros: Food is always great, extensive selection of beer
Cons: It's considered a sports bar so it's really very noisy

Went out with a couple of friends on a Friday night. The line was semi-long, but we were in it for about fifteen minutes. Bouncers/security was polite and very fast, got in in no time. We were there a little bit before eleven so we had to get the dance floor going. But once it did it was jammed packed. Great music, in both dance floors; one is Top40/Hip Hop and the other was Salsa, merengue, spanish rock.. overall good music. As for drinks... you may think they're not strong, but they'll sneak up on ya! So watch it. lol. Some of the bartenders.. well one.. took fooooor ever with our drinks. Needless to say , she didn't get a tip that time and we went to someone else for the rest of the night.
Like I said, overall, the place is great! Then again for ten million dollars, the place better be crackin'! haa.
Pros: Got in free. Purple shooters! Music. Dance floor. Overall ambience.
Cons: The ONE bitchy bartender. lol.

The best way I can describe this place is comfortable. You walk in the door and you immediately relax. For food the Joe's special is good or my favorite--the salami sandwich. Good selection of beer--thank God. That wasn't always the case 25 years ago. If any bar rates six stars this would be it!

The Vault in Long Beach is a great place to see a show! It's up there with House of Blues and acutally better than the HOB in Anaheim. They have a great variety of music, everything from punk rock to jazz, they cover it. The staff is friendly and the drinks are fair if not cheap. Some of best shows I've seen in the last 5 years were at the Vault 350. Great place to see a show!
Pros: Great Soundsystem, decent prices and it's easily accessable from LA and OC
Cons: Parking is 8 bucks

I've been coming to Mai Tai Bar for after work cocktails for awhile now. My favorite time to visit is their 4-7pm Happy Hour as the sun is setting and my day is unwinding. The drinks are excellent and the appetizers are so unique and tasty! I love the Friday entertainment with Tini who plays all the good hits and sets the mood for the weekend! Cheers to Mai Tai Bar in Long Beach! Well done!

Since the change of ownership we do now accept credit cards. Just wait for the remodeling... but it will still be one of the local bars...
