Best

I generally only eat vegetarian food; this place is awesome because you don't have to worry about meat broth or oils in your food. 8 thumbs up! Pros: great vegetarian food ...

Worst

Here's the good news: Their baked goods are excellent. I love their cookies and cakes. Go for a chocolate croissant (if there are any left), they are unbelievably awesome. Als...

Pretty good co-op 4/16/2006

Weaver Street Market is a Carrboro institution for good reason. They do a lot for the community and I think most of it quite positive. The grocery selection is pretty good, but they don't have the low prices you can find other places. Sometimes I don't mind, other times it bugs me. I also wish they did a member dividend instead of the seemingly random 5% off certain items. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgable. more

Weaver Street Market 4/16/2006

Weaver Street Market is a great place for organic groceries, but they also serve great food and coffee. What i like best about it is that they have a seating section inside, but they also have a quad with picnic tables outside. The internet access is free and they also have music or art festivals there almost every Sunday! more

Hippies galore! 4/3/2006

Weaver Street Market is the place for hippies, college students, indie hipsters of all sorts, or just regular people who would like to watch this strange group of people interacting. They have free wireless outside and inside, so you can do your work, eat healthy food, and of course, people watch. While you’re there, you can also buy your groceries, or check out any of the other places in the shopping complex. more

High prices, but high quality 9/6/2005

Weaver Street Market is a very fun place to grocery shop. The prices are rather high, however the quality of their products is high! They have great prepared food and desserts. The atmosphere of this market is natural and laid-back. It is rather amusing because there is sometimes more bikes in the parking lot than cars! more

Weaver Street is great, but expensive 8/31/2005

I love going to Weaver Street Market, especially on Sunday afternoons, because it's got such a great community feel. Where else are you likely to find more bicycles than cars in the parking lot? The groceries are too expensive for me, but I do enjoy their prepared foods, especially desserts, which I take outside on the lawn to enjoy the people watching. There's frequently live music. The one thing I buy there regularly is herbs--you can get them in bulk (dried) and just buy as much as you want or need--ends up being much cheaper than buying a bottle of herbs at the grocery store. more

One of a Kind 8/29/2005

There is nothing else quite like Weaver Street in the area! Where else can you go to buy delicious organic produce and health foods, home baked breads and pastries, a nice selection of fine wines, cheeses, and specialty foods, as well as grab a great cup of coffee and a hot, healthy and scrumptious lunch? It really is one of a kind! The perfect place to spend the afternoon nursing a cup of coffee and a croissant while reading a book or surfing the net on your laptop (free of charge) - or spend an evening with friends over a delicious casual self-serve meal. It's a co-op business with a true community spirit - Weaver Street is a boon for the Carrboro/Chapel Hill area and it's lucky residents! more

Classic Carrboro 8/12/2005

Weaver Street Market is the definition of downtown Carrboro-- it is a supermarket, deli, buffet, coffee house, music arena, and town commons all in one. This place is part of the reason that we moved to Carrboro-- it is truly amazing. Hundreds of people come out on Sunday mornings to eat, converse with friends on the lawn, listen to local music, and read the newspaper. Bring the kids and your hula hoop! more

Consider this review of only their prepared foods. 8/4/2005

Here's the good news: Their baked goods are excellent. I love their cookies and cakes. Go for a chocolate croissant (if there are any left), they are unbelievably awesome. Also, the salad bar is a nice way to get a fresh healthy lunch- lots of nice options. Here's the bad news: Their hot foods are terrible. Seriously, they are gross. I really want to like them because it would be pretty convenient to pick up some quick dinner. This has included all of their dishes that I've tried including several soups. I'm done subjecting myself to it. Also, the coffee is at best so-so. Obviously Weaver Street Market has the "grocery store" component, but I rarely shop there- only occasionally buy milk- so I can't comment. more

Weaver Street Market - Bohemia central! 7/9/2005

Weaver Street Market is probably the single most Bohemian acre in the whole Triangle. WSM is owned by the community and most of the workers are volunteers from the community. It is basically like a Whole Foods-type market, where everything is organic, fresh, antibiotic-free, etc. Plus, they’ve got a bakery section and a hot & cold bar where you can pick up some breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also make their sushi fresh daily. Every Thursday night except during winter, they’ve got wine & beer tasting with music on the front lawn which brings people out in droves. And Sundays from 11-1 are the best. Go get yourself some organic breakfast or pastries and sit on the lawn and listen to eclectic music (something different every week). Bohemians, hippies, tree-huggers, whatever you want to call them are out in force, along with gram and gramps, families with kids, punks with noserings, tattooed bikers, men in drag, girls in belly dancing outfits, you name it. If you are into hula-hooping, there are two girls that are there virtually every week who bring armfuls of custom hoops and let everyone use them. They’ll even make you one if you want.
