You will never find a better Dealer for used Mercedes! 2/22/2010

I have seen Paul's advertisements in Hemmings since before I could drive. Over the years (he has been in Hemmings continously for 38 years) I decided it would be fun to buy a car from him. Finaly, the stars alligned. I needed a new daily driver and I was going to be in Cleveland for a full day of meetings anyway.\r \r So, I called Paul on his 1994 MB S420. He told me the car was 100%, everything worked, etc. Of course, I had heard this before from other dealers, but (as I sort of social experiment) I took his word for it and wired the money for the car sight-unseen, with no inspection, etc.\r \r I booked a one way ticket to Cincinatti and took car service from the airport to pick up the car. I had to be in Cleveland for business the next day, and I took the condition of the car totally on faith.\r \r When I arrived, I found the car was BETTER than represented. I drove it from Cincinatti to Cleveland and then on to NY, about 14 hours of driving in all - and the car performed absolutely flawlessly. I am thrilled with the car and would not hesitate to buy from Paul again.\r \r I am something of a collector (I own two other Mercedes, three Ferraris, a BMW, a Land Rover, etc.) and I have bought lots of cars sight unseen. They are almost always worse than represented. Paul is one of about two guys on earth that have sold me cars that were better than they were described. \r \r I can not recommend Paul Padget's Vintage Sales higly enough.\r \r Pros: Totally honest - cars described 100% accurately Cons: Too far away from my home in NY more

I love my 1983 300D 12/17/2009

I read through Paul Padgett's ads for years in Hemmings but never had the opportunity to get out here. When my old Mercedes gave up the ghost I was thrilled to see that PP had the exact model (and color!) that I ad fallen in love with, only much better maintained than the one I had ownd. had the opportuniy to drive out from Washington D.C.on a cold March day with my five-year-old daughterseveral years back. We dropped off the rental that night, spent the night at a motel in Columbus, and drove it back the next morning. The car has perfomed flawlessly or me ever since. Pros: Great cars Cons: I can't afford them all more

Unethical business deals, sells rust buckets to unsuspecting buyers 11/12/2007

Better have the car thoroughly checked out for rust before you buy from Paul Padget. This man has been selling vintage cars for decades, and will rip you off. He will not disclose rust, its up to you to find it before ever giving him money. You should have any car sold by Paul Padget Vintage Sales in Columbus Oh inspected by a knowledgeable mechanic and not by his mechanic, Precision Motorcars or any other of his mechanics he suggests. He sold me a Mercedes that had been made cosmetically perfect for casual inspection through extensive paint and bodywork, after I paid for it and got it home, my mechanic discovered the whole underside of the car was rusted out and was unable to be repaired. The spring perchs of the front suspension were rusted out, and the rear suspension which is just held together and to the car by a triangle, was completely rusted out, to the point where my mechanic was worried the rear triangle was going to break off on the road. This guy refused to give my money back, and after I contacted him about the rust, he refused to answer his phone or return my calls. I blew over 10K on this car, and after I got it home, I found out it was worthless. No one with any conscience would knowingly sell a car to a woman, in this rusted out condition. Considering that his specialty is vintage cars, there is no way he could have not known about the rust, as that is something vintage auto sellers know all too well. Coming from CA, and never encountering the rust problem, he saw me coming a mile away. Paul Padget is unethical and adds insult to injury by blowing off the people he rips off, once he has your money. Buyer beware. Cons: Unethical sales and advertising practices, lack of accessibility once he gets your money more
