The Worst Excuse of a Tea Room 9/30/2009

We've been to many tea rooms in our day and this is by far the absolute worst service, food, and management. We went for a relaxing afternoon and left totally stressed out as a result of the manager/owner who obviously was not interested in satisfying his customers. In addition he had one poor waiter that was expected to greet customers, serve food, bus tables, and collect the bill. I wished I looked at the reviews prior to visiting this poor excuse of a tea house. Don't waste your time or $$$$$. Go to Coffee Bean or Starbucks for a much tastier tea experience with better service. Cons: poor management, dirty, atrocious customer service, etc... more

pretty place to get married but have your reception elsewhere 2/24/2008

We had our wedding and reception here a year ago. The Owner passed herself off as a wedding planner and assured me she would run the whole show so my strongwilled reletives couldnt. First she quoted me one price on the phone and then changed it when I came to pay. overall it was still really inexpensive for the area. Then all was well till the wedding rehearsal. After wating almost an hour we had to actaully remind her we we all standign around wating on her before she came out to tell us what to do. Then for the wedding the owner had two waitresses to serve my 50 guests. The lasagna was cold ( And im the bride) But the breadsticks were good. Thats all anyone ate. Then before we could get a picture of the cake they cut it ! they offered to put it back together again but that seemed a littled farfetched so we did without. The owner/wedding planner and her watresses stayed holed up in the office the whole time and my bridesmaids took over and ran the show. All in all it turned out ok but if your looking for a great place to have a reception you may want to look somewhere with better food. Pros: pretty place, nice garden Cons: bad food bad service no parking more

Don't even bother taking your tea here! 9/25/2007

I have been to tea at many establishments in So Cal and I was very disappointed in my experience at the Victorian Manor. Very pretty location and decor but poorly managed. We waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged, 10 to receive tea. We ordered the most expensive tea service ($25 each) . There was 1 waitress serving at least 25 people alone as well as closing tabs and greeting new customers. The owner/manager was clearly visible in her office talking and eating but never came out to help. The scone was good but obviously store bought. The soup which we were not told the flavor of and we were not able to determine was too peppery. The sandwiches and fruit were served on a 3 tier platter. The top tier was covered in completely unnecessary fake flowers. The 2nd tier was a 4 piece fruit kabob for each of us and carrots, olives and celery that reminded me of a garnish at Denny's. The 3rd tier was tea sandwiches that were tasty but certainly not scrumptious. The waitress brought the check before dessert and we wondered if we would get any. I even double checked the menu to make sure. It described the desserts as delectable. What we got was a piece of a single layer white cake with white frosting. They had spruced it up with colored sugar and a mint sprig. A woman at the table next to us said Costco cake would have been better! However, the tea was great. We had the Spiced Raspberry and enjoyed it very much. Overall, I would not return to or recommend the Victorian Manor which is unfortunate. It is in a great location right down the street from Old Towne Orange and I saw a sign for a competing Tea House coming soon. Hopefully they will make some improvements so they will not lose additional business. At $25 per person we could have enjoyed a great meal with dessert and a drink at any other restaurant there in town and that is what we will do next time!! Pros: Nice decor, close to Old Towne Orange Cons: Poor food for the money, 1 server for the whole restaurant more

Awful food, service and atmosphere 8/10/2006

I wish I would have read reviews before I wasted my time coming to this hole. The food is revolting (expensive too), the service is appalling and the atmosphere ghastly. The management does not even pretend to cater to guests. Even the bathrooms were filthy. All in all, I would have rather spent my afternoon at Taco Bell. Pros: Driving away Cons: Too many to list. Just a deporable place in all aspects. more

The worst Tea House EVER 7/11/2006

Victorian Tea House? You have got to be kidding. This place is a joke. Bad food, bad service, bad atmosphere. I would have had a better afternoon tea if my 4 year old daughter prepared it. \r The owners should be embarrased for trying to pass off canned melted whipped cream as clotted cream and day old bicuits as scones....and charging for it. \r My advise, do not waste your afternoon or money on this place. It is not even remotely worth it.\r Cons: The food was awful, service was terrible and the atmosphere tacky. more

I was disappointed 5/13/2006

The house itself is actually cute, however, the food was disappointing. Since it was Mother's Day weekend, there was only one choice of high tea (and I had no problem with that). The salad consisted of some iceberg leaves with bland yogurt dressing. Loveless. The scone was so moist and sticky that it was almost impossible to eat. The sandwiches were below average and accompanied by some dry pieces of carrot, celery, and a sad little 'fruit-kebab'. The chocolate truffles were okay. The cake tasted cheap and overly sweet. I highly doubt that the people who run this place ever had real high tea themselves. Also, it is fine that everything is for sale. But please don't put industrial price tags right in the middle of everything. Why not e.g. handwritten tags on little strings? Overall there is a lot of room for improvement. Good luck with that. Pros: location, location, location Cons: food, food, price tags more

I've been to better tea rooms 8/18/2005

Nice atomsphere but the food could be much better. The scone was a bit too moist and the sandwiches were just okay. more
