Uptown Palladium 12 Theatre

As people who may have read a lot of my posts are aware, I watch a lot of movies, and spend what feels like a significant portion of my life at various theaters watching press screenings or promotional screenings for soon-to-be-released feature films. I have to tell you, far and away, the best place around here to catch a movie is the Uptown Palladium Theater right in downtown Birmingham. The theater (as well as the Uptown Birmingham theater down the street) is owned by the Ilitch family, one of the daughters I believe, and the class of the operation seems to eminate from the top. The ticket people are friendly and helpful. The Customer Service desk is always staffed, and they do an exceptional job of resolving any issues customers may have. Even the folks working at the concession stands are nice. The theaters themselves are top-of-the-line, using the latest in projection and sound technologies. And the seats are very comfortable as well. And here's a tip: if you ever have the chance to see a screening in Theater #8, you should definitely do so. That is the room where private screenings are held (like for parties or corporations or whatever), and the seats in there are the most comfortable ever. Trust me! more

This is a beautiful theater that offers an amazing movie-going experience. Comfortable seats, great sound, nice bathrooms, everything upscale. If you go to a 7 or 8 p.m. show on a weekend, prepare to be surrounded by hundreds of kids. We have had to leave movies before because of kids kicking our seats and/or making obnoxious noises. Parking can be tough in the area, but if you go during non-peak times, this place is great! more

I've found a place where I can relax and enjoy a movie in a state of the art environment. That place is the Uptown Palladium in Birmingham. They have pulled out all of the stops to make you movie going experience top notch. The seats are so nice you could probably fall asleep in them and be comfortable and get a good night sleep. They have some of the best projecting and sound equipment available on the market. If you just once see a movie is this theater, you'll never want to go any place else. I give it 5 stars. more

When it comes to movie theatres, it doesn't get much better than the Birmingham Uptown Palladium 12. As the name suggests, they have 12 screening rooms on two floors, including several "premier" theatres with dining areas and special seating. What I say special, I mean that the seats have Temperpedic memory foam which conforms to your bottom, moveable arm rests, and even some small tables between some of the seats. These seats are so comfortable, you're likely to sit through all of the credits, just to squeeze a few more minutes out of the experience. Concessions include the standard fare, as well as several serve-yourself frozen pop machines on the third floor. Parking can be tricky, as it is a bit limited in the downtown Birmingham area, but don't forget that the parking structures offer two hours of free parking. There is one such parking structure just to the east of the main entrance to the theatre. See you at the movies! more

Uptown Palladium 12 Movie Theatre is an upscale, brand new movie theatre in downtown Birmingham. It has 3 floors of show rooms and food and drinks available on all 3 floors. You can do diner buffet and movie if you plan ahead of time for a reasonable price. The theatre should put in more movie ticket machines, this seems to be the quickest way of buying tickets. more

The uptown palladium 12 has 12 great screens showing the latest movies. The theater is very upscale. The seats are very comfortable. Every theater is good--a few are quite large. The concessions are pricey as in all movies but have good selections. You can buy tickets in advance. They take credit cards. more
