My first trip to Trio a few years ago was good but it's gone down hill from there. There are two floors with a band usually playing downstairs as you walk in. The bands they book are weak compared to many others I've seen further down-town. Upstairs there is a D.J. who isn't bad but it is an Ice-box up there. The most glaring problem this club has is management. On 3/1/08 they had an event there and charged $5 at the door but failed to mention the fact that in order to go upstairs, there was a serious wait because of the ""fire-code"" but, they didn't really worry about the fire code when it came to jamming people (waiting) on the stairs. We paid a total of $10 for nothing because had we waited for people to leave upstairs in order to get a spot, the bar would have closed. Of course the door-men didn't care as long as the money was flowing. The kicker is, there was plenty of room upstairs to accomodate but the up-stairs doorman was being a complete dumb-@#$%; he also went as far as telling people who were on their way out, not to leave because of the wait (seriously screwing the rest of us waiting on the stairs). This is not good business and was a waste of my time and money. There are far better places to go down-town without the hassle. If you must go to this club, make sure you ask the doorman the status of upstairs, events etc... before you waste money. The staff at this place is the most ignorant I've run accross in Charleston besides the City Bar which fortunately closed down. Trio is sure soon to follow the other crappy clubs closing their doors.
Pros: Cool concept
Cons: terrible staff
