Best

Great lounge! This place is awesome. The staff is very friendly, we even met the owner. He is also a great guy. You can choose to listen to live music or go upstairs and listen to...

Worst

hadn't been there yet. Friends say the Owner is a real nice guy. So who is the owner of this place, and what kind of fun can be had there?

Great experience! 5/30/2012

GREAT TIME 7/6/2010

Great lounge! This place is awesome. The staff is very friendly, we even met the owner. He is also a great guy. You can choose to listen to live music or go upstairs and listen to the DJ. If you want to relax and talk to people you can go out back to the outdoor patio. The drinks were good and the bar tenders were quick at serving. Better than any lunge I have been to. Trio lounge is also very, very clean which is not common wiht all lounges. Thanks Trio, see you again. Pros: option of live music, dj, or outside patio Cons: the clubs have to close at 2 more

Completely worthless 1/1/2010

We paid for and reserved a VIP spot upstairs for $25. The owner when we got there was nice and showed us around telling us he wanted us to have a good time. After a while the place started getting packed. I went outside with a friend and when we tried to go back upstairs to OUR VIP spot we were told that upstairs was at capacity and we would have to wait in the line with about 20 other people who DID NOT have a spot reserved until people came out of the upstairs. I found the owner and told him we needed to get upstairs to our spot and he acted like it wasn't his problem. This happened on more than one occasion throughout the night. If someone reserves and pays for a spot they should be the ones getting into that spot and not the other tools that were frequenting the place. The drinks were terrible and didn't have enough liquor for the high price you pay. A miller lite was $4!!!! I won't ever go back and I suggest no one else does either. If I could give it 0 stars I would happily. Terrible staff and terrible drinks make this place a complete joke. Thanks for nothing. Pros: There are plenty of other good bars down the road Cons: Just about everything more

Avoid this bar and go further downtown to better clubs 3/3/2008

My first trip to Trio a few years ago was good but it's gone down hill from there. There are two floors with a band usually playing downstairs as you walk in. The bands they book are weak compared to many others I've seen further down-town. Upstairs there is a D.J. who isn't bad but it is an Ice-box up there. The most glaring problem this club has is management. On 3/1/08 they had an event there and charged $5 at the door but failed to mention the fact that in order to go upstairs, there was a serious wait because of the ""fire-code"" but, they didn't really worry about the fire code when it came to jamming people (waiting) on the stairs. We paid a total of $10 for nothing because had we waited for people to leave upstairs in order to get a spot, the bar would have closed. Of course the door-men didn't care as long as the money was flowing. The kicker is, there was plenty of room upstairs to accomodate but the up-stairs doorman was being a complete dumb-@#$%; he also went as far as telling people who were on their way out, not to leave because of the wait (seriously screwing the rest of us waiting on the stairs). This is not good business and was a waste of my time and money. There are far better places to go down-town without the hassle. If you must go to this club, make sure you ask the doorman the status of upstairs, events etc... before you waste money. The staff at this place is the most ignorant I've run accross in Charleston besides the City Bar which fortunately closed down. Trio is sure soon to follow the other crappy clubs closing their doors. Pros: Cool concept Cons: terrible staff more

Trio is Hot 7/27/2005

Great club! Sophisticated, not stuffy. Live music is always good, beautiful women & well-dressed, good looking men. Dance or just mingle. Upstairs lounge is nice for quiet meetings & patio in the back has torches, full bar & nice atmosphere. Barstaff is the best. more

This place is great! With all kinds of different atmospheres to enjoy. Patio, DJ upstairs with lots of couches, Live band downstairs with bar stools and tables. This place always seems to attract a good looking crowd and a lot of regulars! Definatly a good place to hit while bar hoping downtown! more

Great - Starting at the Door 12/27/2002

This is a great bar for those good-looking people from 21-35 years of age who are out on the town looking for a place that has it all: dancing, a live band, a DJ upstairs, a back patio, fast & friendly wait and bar staff, and the best looking and coolest doorguys in Charleston! If you are in Charleston and miss the Trio, then you missed out on a good time! more
