I will never go to Michel Tire again.
I purchased a tire there in May of 2006, and it blew out in January of 2007. I was under the 40,000 mile guarantee, and I had purchased the extra Road Hazard warrantee. I figured I would be in good shape, so I called to see how long it would take to fix the tire, and I was promised 30 minutes.
I brought the car in with the damaged tire, and was told it shouldn't take long. One hour later, I realized they hadn't even asked for my key. I gave my key to the guy at the counter, and he just gave me a "whoops" face and told me it would be another 30 minutes.
After another hour went by (I had been there 2 hours now), I could see that my car wasn't even in the garage yet. I got the manager and told him I was promised 30 minutes, and wanted to know what was wrong. He said they were just busy and would get the car in very soon. They got the car into the garage, and immediately realized that they didn't have the tire that I needed. The manager told me that they would have to drive to another store to get the tire and come back, but that I would be good to go in 30 minutes (catching the theme here?)
Another hour passes while I wait in their lobby, growing more and more frustrated. The manager offers me a free oil change, which I accept begrudgingly. He tells me everything is now fixed, and I owe him $55. "For what??" I ask, "I paid for the extra warranty!" He gives me some convoluted reason about how it would have been much more expensive. I told him to deduct the value of the oil change from the bill, because I would not be coming back.
He called back today offering me a free alignment for my troubles. Bear in mind, an alignment comes free with a new tire. I told him I was insulted that he would offer me something that should already be free, and that I would never be going back to Michel Tire.
If they wanted to keep my business, there's no way I should have had to pay for that experience.
Pros: Close to where I work
Cons: Horrible service, warrantee doesn't actually cover you, lack of communication, below-average waiting facilities
