One of a Kind 2/28/2010

The Melting Pot is an excellent choice for a restaurant, though only if one has the patience and time to sit down for a few hours. The meal is made right in front your, and when it comes down to it you are the one truly making it. This is a great place to go for an evening out with friends or family. The atmosphere is comfortable, quite, and relaxing. Each course has a variety of selections and flavors to choose from, though not every individual in the group will get to pick their own since groups share. A specific dish to note would be an entr?e called The French Quarter. This dish includes filet mignon, chicken breast, and shrimp; they are seasoned with Cajun spices. The meat is served to you raw, because you will be the one doing the cooking. All entr?es also arrive with fresh vegetables. To cook your items you choose a cooking style, which is a type of broth that will go into the fondue bowl at your table. The style, which will be discussed, is the Mojo Style. This Caribbean-seasoned bouillon with garlic and citrus alone smelt delectable. This combination was spicy, so if one does not care for spicy food they should consider a different meat selection that is not seasoned this way. Though if one does enjoy something spicy and flavorful this would be the perfect combination. The meat was fresh and the spices from both the seasoning and the Mojo broth came together and created a delicious and unique taste. The Melting Pot is also reasonable towards special orders. If one does not like a specific combination of meats in a dish they can substitute it out for a different one. An array of dipping sauces are also given with the entr?e to add yet even more flavor and the sever will explain what each one is. The server also instructs you on how to cook your food correctly. They are knowledgeable about the menu, kind, and well mannered. The Melting Pot serves appetizing cheese fondues, entr?es, and chocolate fondues. Before going it should be noted that for a full meal it will take a few hours, party size also affects this. This is a formal dinner setting and young children should not be brought along. The hot stovetop on the table and the time it takes are ample reasons enough. Reservations should be made no matter the party size. The prices are expensive, but the food is high quality, the service is wonderful, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is something to note about the price. The Melting Pot is a fabulous restaurant and if one is looking for a unique dining experience this is the place to go. more

A Truly Unique Experience 12/5/2009

Upon entering I noticed that the restaurant had a romantic and elegant feel to it. The hostess seemed glad to greet us and happily led us to our table. The server greeted us by name and made a few suggestions as far as beverages. He was very knowledgeable which was extremely helpful when choosing what we wanted to eat. (Their menu was a bit complicated.) We decided to go for ?The Big Night Out? which was a four course dinner for two that included a cheese fondue appetizer, salad, the main course with your selection of meats and cooking sauce, as well as dessert. Pros: Excellent Service more

Best Restaurant Experience of my life!!!! 2/21/2008

The MeltingPot in Scottsdale Arizona is the best restaurant I have ever had the pleasure to dine in. The food amazing, the concept fun and creative, and the service is unbelievable. When we arrived in the restaurant we were nicely greeted by the host stand. The hostess Blair greeted us with a smile and congratulated me on my Promotion. WOW! How did she know about it? On the way to the table the host Adam kept a wonderful funny conversation with us. We even had a congratualtions card along with a picture frame and balloons waiting on the table for us. Once at the table he said our server would be Josh and he would be right over to take care of us. Once again being congratulated on my promotion he departed the table. Moments later Josh approached the table and took us through the fondue experience. Through out this experience multiple staff members stopped by and congratulated me on my promotion. The managers Jason, Harrison, and Candice were all especially nice-all holding wonderful conversations with us. And Harrison even used his extensive wine knowledge to turn us onto a wonderful bottle of wine. With our meal coming to a close and us paying our check, we were wished a wonderful evening by all staff we passed on the way out and even was once more congratulated by Blair about my promotion. I have never had a better restaurant experience and I highly reccomend this restaurant for anyone who is celebrating a special occasion or just wants a Perfect Night Out!!! Pros: Service, WIne, Staff Cons: NONE! more

Best Fondue Experience 2/12/2008

I am taking my husband, as a surprise, to the Scottsdale, AZ location to celebrate Valentine's Day. This is our first time going to Scottsdale since they relocated. They are, by far, the most wonderful and romantic atmosphere in dining that we've had, to date. The food is awesome and the service is beyond impeccable. The people that work there have always been friendly and cheerful. I recommend it to others on a frequent basis. Two thumbs up!! We love you!! Pros: Two Thumbs Up!! Cons: None to speak of. more

Lousy service!!!!!! It just isn't worth it. A real mix of Jethro Bodine crossed with Margaret Drysdale 11/17/2007

Lousy service!!!!!! Ruined anniversary dinner. Be careful of possible marketing agency writers that may be giving this 4 and 5 stars and the usual BS about how great it is (had family in the biz. know how it works). Don't waste your time. ""The food is not worth it"" we heard as we were leaving, furious, from other patrons. (Ended up going to Roy's at Scottsdale and Indian bend- was wonderful, as usual.) It started with the all to easy, ""we're running behind, it'll be just a few minutes"" from the wait staff when we arrived a few minutes before our reservation. ""Great"", we thought, we'll get a drink, laugh for a few minutes - 60 minutes later (now 9:30 p.m.) the same 5-7 couples, all with reservations at 8:30-8:45 still standing, nowhere to sit, hearing the barely pubescent looking wait staff softly giggle out a ""sorry."" It lookes as though they were just standing there trying to think of themselves in people magazine. (Now really, they seemed to be a curious mix of Jethro Bodine crossed with Margaret Drysdale - remember the Clampetts) At one point my spouse was told that our table was being wiped off right now and that we would be sitting momentarily. 10-15 minutes later, I walk to the hostess, with the manager standing next to her, and asked how long it takes to wipe off a table? The manager laughed, wilted back away from the hostess, leaving her to respond. Does anyone in management there know how to train a staff to be courteous or how turn tables? (How did Seinfeld put it with the car agencies (paraphrase), ""You know how to make a reservation, you just don't know how to keep a reservation."") Now, get this, as we were being seated, we saw a larger table that had had no one sitting at it the whole time we were standing there. We asked, ""Has this table been open the entire time we've been here?"" The muddled boy seating us said, ""Oh, that's for larger parties, there's only two of you."" That was it. Nothing is worth that aggravation. Pros: Good soda fountain Cons: LOUSY SERVICE more

Pricey, well served and snooty all at the same spot! 3/2/2007

The Waiters and Waitresses are phenominal, the Reservation system is abysmal and the Hostess personel are the worst in town. Be prepared to spend more than you thought and enjoy the experience Pros: service and wine selection Cons: Hostess and reservation system more

Best fondue period 11/11/2006

I absolutely love this place. I have brought several people with me to experience the food they offer and turned many people into fondue lovers as well. Any special occassion from birthdays to anniversaries to getting the new job I am there to celebrate, but make your reservations! The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing! Make sure you try the amaretto meltdown for dessert, do yourself a favor! Pros: Service, food Cons: Make sure you make reservations more

Mixed Opinion 11/3/2006

I had heard awesome things about this place, but was very disappointed. The food, what little of it there was, was ok. The service was awful. Do these people have to pass a snob test to work here or what? Granted, we are just an average couple, but were looking for at least some courtesy, and got none. The few who did speak to us were very snobby and rude, which totally ruined our evening. Price is way to much to be treated like that. Pros: food was ok Cons: VERY SNOBBY SERVERS more

Different, but expensive and snobby service 8/2/2006

The good - great place to really enjoy your food and company since you don't just chow and go. Atmosphere is OK, and the hostess station was very friendly. The bad - service at the bar was snobby, we had a chipped wine glass and all he could say was ""oh,"" sigh heavily and give us a new wine glass. The food is OK, but expensive and the bottomless veggies, aren't - unless you can get the attention of your server who doesn't seem to come around after the initial food is put on your table - didn't check back once. Summary - good for cheese and drinks. Wouldn't do the whole dinner next time. Pros: Great for conversation Cons: Service, price more

Not that great.... 5/10/2006

I've been to the place once and don't plan on going back. The food was over priced for it's quality. The meat was dry and sauces were sort of bland. Cheese dip was ok and I had better desserts. Although they were friendly the service slow. Pros: casual Cons: price, food , service more

Fantastic Break the Ice place 12/28/2005

Ever had one of those dinners where no one really has anything to say so you sit a make small talk until you go out of your mind? This is the type of place that makes it a lot less painful. It's such a unique experience that everyone has something to talk about so it's a great place for a first date or a night out with in-laws in my opinion. Anyone who you don't entirely feel comfortable with. Pros: Unique experience, Food, You're cooking it Cons: You're cooking it more

Celebrate at the Melting Pot! 9/5/2005

This place is awesome! I go here at least twice a month during special occasions; birthdays, new moms, anniversaries... They always remember to ask if we are celebrating which gives me the chance to buy a keepsake for my guest. Last birthday I bought my friend one of their cute pewter frames with our picture. The cheese was soooo filling we barely had room for dessert! everything was 'picture' perfect! Thank you Melting Pot! Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere Cons: addicting! more

Most unromantic restaurant! 7/10/2005

I reserved the special curtained table for an anniversary after hearing rave reviews, but it absolutely ruined our evening. The service was slow and for the price you get a very tiny amount of mediocre food. The worst part was having to hear people coming in and out of the bathrooms, staff and guests constantly pulling back the curtain, loud noises from the kitchen, and having to hear the obscene conversations coming from the staff while standing outside our table. After making complaints all we got was a coupon for a free dessert - that was only valid if we came back in and bought another dinner. I will never return to this restaurant and certainly don't suggest it for anyone seeking a romantic dinner. Cons: poor service, overpriced food more

Puuurfect evening 6/15/2005

Lots of tables for two with couples sharing a romantic dinner together, delicious desserts, rated at only two dollar signs, but a bit pricier, I think. If you want to melt someone's heart this is the place to go, even if it is a big corporate franchise now. Reservations are usually required, so this might not be for the more spontaneous folks out there. Pros: Great desserts, wonderful atmosphere Cons: Reservations required more

I am in love 9/26/2004

My boyfriend and I went to the Melting Pot for the first time last week and I am in love. We had the most amazing dining experience. Every aspect of our meal was well executed, and the dessert was AMAZING. We did have to call ahead for a reservation even on a Tuesday. As a wine lover we found the wine list to be very extensive and included a few special find selections. We are looking forward to a return visit hen we are going to attend one of the monthly wine dinners. Go and enjoy! Pros: service, wine list, fun more

The Melting Pot STINKS! 5/24/2004

My husband and I have visited The Melting Pot several times in several states, and have always loved our experience. Unfortunately, the Hayden Road location has ruined our love for this restaurant. I have never in my life received such bad service and the food was a total dissapointment. Compared to past Melting Pot visits, the Scottsdale location has the least amount of food portions. We paid over $80 for a couples dinner and received about $30 worth of food. We waited for 45 minutes between our salad and entree. To top things off, the management was notified of how badly things were for us, and although they were willing to comp our meal--they sent us home with their apologies and a dessert that was FROZEN!! Our 1st wedding anniversary was ruined--thanks to the Melting Pot. Cons: , Poor food quality, Bad Experience more

The Melting Pot 1/29/2004

For the ultimate romantic dining experience this is the place to go. The food is excelent the service supreme and the ambiance is incredible. You will not regret the money spent. Be prepared to spend the time to enjoy it all and make a reservation. If you are thinking of taking kids with you make sure that they are older than 9 or 10. Pros: Romantic, Excelent food, Good service Cons: , Not for kids more

Great Experience 10/12/2003

The Melting Pot was wonderfully romantic, (closed curtains in front of the table) and the food was fabulous. Everything was great, I highly recommend this place to anyone who is in love. more
