Best Seafood in town!!! 6/18/2007

Me and my husband had gone to the St. Louis Fish Market for our anniversary. We made reservations for 7:30 on a Saturday night. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly host. She promptly sat us at a very private table that was very cozy. Our server was very friendly and had answers to all the questions we had. First we started with a bottle of wine from there extensive wine list. Our server gave a very good wine presentation and poured us both a glass. Our food was amazing! We started with some oysters on the half shell which were delicious, then had two salads. My husband had a wonderful Capressa salad while I tried the Insalata. Then for our main course I had the Sesame Encrusted Ahi Tuna which was to die for and my husband had had a Catch Combo Hong Kong Style. We loved the food everything turned out perfect. Me and my husband have decided this is our new favorite restaurant! We would definitely recommend the St. Louis Fish Market to anyone looking for a romantic place to dine. A++ Pros: Beautiful U shaped bar attached to an oyster and sushi bar. Romantic lighting. Great Service. Wonderful Food Cons: Only thing I might say would be a con is the construction going on on the Landing. more

Good food, not so capable staff 4/10/2007

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place since it boasts being the best seafood in st. louis. I was not disappointed with the food at all. It was by all accounts fantastic. However, the service and management has left a bad taste in my mouth. I work in the service industry, you would essentially have to try really hard to upset me, I understand everyone has off days and things just dont always run smoothly...to a point that is. All but three tables were completely empty, and three servers on, it would seem that they would be able to handle the crowd, or not. I opted not to drink alcohol that night and only asked for water, which was never full and only had ice in it the first time it was poured. I ate my entire meal without a drink and then had to ask the server to get me some, to which she gave me iceless, room temp water, not very impressive. Dont get me wrong she was very nice and polite yet unattentive at best. When it came time for the bill we decided to split it in half. We both tipped her more than her service deserved. Then came the biggest mess. One of our cards was charged 3 times what it should have been, while the other was charged a smaller but wrong amount. When asked to fix it the GM gave a standard ""Its a new system"" response and said it would hopefully work itself out. We very clearly explained to her what the totals on each card should be and we expected she listened and would take care of it. After a few days the problem was made better but not fixed. The original charges were gone and I was charged the whole bill while my boyfriend was charged the tip amount. Like I said, I do the same thing for a living its not that difficult. You cant boast being a top restaurant and not handle business professionally and quickly. Good food but not worth all the hassel!!!!!! Pros: romantic Cons: poor service and damage control more

Great wine list 2/4/2007

When my friend and I, ate there the server was very helpful in selecting a wine. She gave some of her favorites samples to us. For our first courses we had some sushi, and I am not really a sushi person, but did enjoy it. Next, we had crab and spinach artichoke dip, served with pita bread, it was very good. For the entrees, I had coconut-poached tilapia; perfectly cooked. The tilapia with the hint of coconut was amazing. For dessert, I had a chocolate cake, and my friend and he had creme brulee, we both enjoyed our dessert. Pros: Service, quiet Cons: Construction more

Great food & met the Executive Chef 8/12/2006

We made a reservation & were seated immediately even though the restaurant was fairly busy. We were in for a relaxing romantic evening and never felt rushed. My favorite was the medium rare Ahi Tuna & a great bottle of wine. As our dinner progressed the manager asked how everything was & later the Executive Chef visited the table & talk with us for a few minutes. Pros: Great food & ambiance Cons: construction in the area more

Service effects my return 10/1/2004

After making us wait for 45 mins. at the bar with 15 open tables that were never used (we did not have reservations), My sushi took 45 mins to come out and I was afforded to opportunity to pour every glass of our very expensive wine myself. I also had to as te waiter, the manager and the asst. manager to check up on my main course. Bottom line, dinner was a 3 hr fiasco, BUT.... the food was great. more

Love this place 1/13/2004

My husband and I brought his family here when they visited from out of town, and they enjoyed it as much as we did. The food here has always been great (especially the creole shrimp butter you get with the bread) and fresh, and a good value. The ambience is very nice and makes you feel comfortable in this semi-formal atmosphere. Pros: not crowded, great food! Cons: a little pricey more

Great Catch 1/23/2003

The fish market presented a good atmosphere and a tasty treat from the sushi to the dessert. The originality and flavor was great. Its a pleasure to stay away from the same old meat and potatoes. Try the sea bass hong kong style. Very nice. Pros: Freindly, good ambience, great seafood Cons: parking, location more

Good place to go if you are looking for Long John Silver's type fried fish with fries for $25. Nice ambience, but food was served just like in mentioned above fine diner (of cource, they have real china). I would not recommend it to a friend, and it is definetely not the best sea food restaurant in St. Louis. more
