Amazing may be an over-used word, but it certainly applies to my new vision, which comes thanks to the removal of a cataract on my left eye two weeks ago. As a photographer and videographer, I’ve always treasured my vision and thought it pretty good-until they took the bandage off my left eye and I looked out at a world so bright, vivid, and colorful I could hardly believe it. My first question was ”When can we do the other eye?” I’m squeamish about even getting a flu shot, so I had a lot of anxiety about the procedure but everything was explained thoroughly and all the options explored. The actual procedure was a breeze. Dr. Solinsky’s excellent care and obvious skill made the whole experience as simple as something like this can be. As we age, there aren’t many parts of our bodies that can be restored, but when I get the other eye done this fall i’ll be looking at the world through eyes as good as the day I first opened them. more

On April 16th, 2013 and again on April 30th, 2013 I had cataract eye surgery with Dr Alan Solinsky in West Hartford, CT. Dr. Solinsky's entire staff was extremely professional and made my visits and the examination process very comfortable and answered all of my questions. Each visit I had a different person doing the prepping and the exam's went like clockwork. The entire staff at the Hartford Hospital Surgery Center were the very best as well. They made my visits very comfortable and prepared me for surgery with the upmost of professionalism. Dr. Solinsky's surgical skills using the FEMTO Laser at the Hartford Hospital Surgical Center had made the overall procedure very quick and extremely accurate. I was able to have both eyes done just two weeks apart instead of one month apart and the healing process was considerably fast as well. Now I have 20/20 vision again and that is quite a surprise. I would highly recommend Dr. Solinsky to anyone who has to have cataract surgery, he is one of the very best! Edward D. MIchaud more

Wow, I finally found an eyecare place that really cares. I have a ton of things wrong with my eyes, and most places just want to sell me expensive glasses or contacts. But at Solinsky Eyecare, the doctors have all this hi tech equipment and after 20 years of failures, they found out what was wrong and helped me. I am now so happpy with my eyes, They are the best and they have fun people taking good care of you too. more

I came to Dr. Solinsky as an new patient with an emergency appointment. Though it was a friday, they still agreed to see me in the late afternoon and treated me efficiently. From that encounter and many following, I realized that the practice has a very family orientated mindset. Staff throughout the office remembered who I was and didn't just view me as a patient coming in. Dr. Solinsky took care of me and made me feel as though I was his number one patient and not just another client. I cannot say that there aren't any negatives, as I've had some appointments where I waited for awhile in the patient waiting area. However, nothing can be perfect and there must be flaws, we're only human. Nevertheless, I can confidently say that there will never be any flaws or negatives in the quality of treatment, and if I have to wait sometimes to get that style of treatment, it is worth every minute. more

I went to solinsky eyecare with for a very painful eye. I had called 3 offices first that just blew me off. Solinsky eyecare was great. I was a a brand new patient and The receptionist told me to come right over. They quickly processed my insurance and a very knowledgable technician saw me and the doctor put drops in my eye that made me feel better right away. He gave me drops and i saw them a couple more times and always was treated courteously and promptly. I have recommended other friends and family and they have had great expereinces too. more

Terrible experience, the staff there was horrible. I told the doctor my eyes were different and she still proceeded on ordering the same prescription contacts for both eyes, multiple times. After making plenty of trips to get they problem resovled they messed up my insurance documents. I do not recomend anyone to waste their time at Solinsky Eyecare! more

Dr. Solinsky in one of the most personal doctors I've met. He has a genuine desire to heal his patients, and makes you feel as though you’re not just another account #. Furthermore, he is extremely knowledgeable and good at what he does. Though the wait can be a little long from time to time; its understandable when you look at the patient load that he has. Thus, as with any doctor in demand, appointments that are made in the early morning are the best. I 100% trust this doctor with my eyes and would recommend him to anyone. more

I have been going to Solinsky Eye care for years and it amazing me how up to date they are in the Eye world as they have all the top of the line equipment. The Dr. is one of the most personable individuals I’ve met and always makes me feel like my eyes are getting the best treatment. more

I went in to see one of their doctors who kept brushing off my symptoms and I could tell he thought I was being a pain. I gave up for a while but because my symptoms continued I got a second opinion from another doctor in New Haven and he figured out I had an autoimmune disorder that was causing my strange symptoms and one of my eyes even has permanent vision loss. I thought about a law suit but instead I called the doctor and I INFORMED him of what he should look for next time he gets a patient like me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!! The wait time was insane on top of that. !!!!!! more

Very bad experience. I was given the wrong prescription and billed to the wrong insurer.Had to make multiple visits to resolve the insurance issue. When they discovered their mistake about the wrong prescription, they corrected it but did not refund me for the lenses i had to buy for the wrong prescriprion. they also billed the wrong insurer again for my follow up visit. The staff is just too busy and uninformed. more

Good: Advanced Medical Equipment The Doctor cares and has good medical judgement. Bad: Wait time, lack of one on one time spent with the doctor, not the most skilled surgeon, not all staff and not all optometrists are equally knowledgeable, it feels like being in a people factory. Improvements: All of the above. more

I had one good experience and one bad. I saw the Dr. initially for "floaters," the little dots you sometimes see that seem to move around. I had several of them and was worried, but he said to relax, that they would probably just go away after a while. They did. Then I had him perform Lasik laser surgery on my eyes and the results were not so good. I have slightly double vision (which just looks a little blurry) in both eyes. My vision is far better than before the surgery, even without lenses, and glasses or contacts do correct the problem completely, so I am definitely better off than before, but it was a bit disappointing to still have to wear glasses. I think that he just didn't have enough experience at that time, in his first year of doing it, several years ago. So, he may be excellent at everything except laser surgery. more

Just not happy with this practice or staffing. Too many people doing too many things. The Dr. was nice and seemed very knowledgeable but I was just not comforable overall with the practice. Another family member uses this practice and is happy but I was not and will not bring my family there. more
