Arugula is a small place with a nice, cozy vibe, great service, amazing food, and an excellent wine list. Their fattoush salad is hands-down the best salad I've ever had in my entire life. It's rare that you find yourself craving a salad, but the only time it's happened to me is with Arugula. They have delicious desserts, too. You can't go wrong with this place.

My boyfriend and I have been to the Elbow Room many times. We have always enjoyed the great food and cozy atmosphere.
However a few weeks ago we went and were served at the bar by an extremely un kept and rude bartender. Her name is Balina -or maybe Valina? Hard to tell through her mumbling and disgusted look on her face. I asked her a few times to make a simple cosmo in which she seemed to have never heard of. I thought it was pretty simple and common. Apparently not.
She was very slow to make the drinks but very quick to drop the bill each time with anticipation of her tip.
I have never had such awful service. And the appearance of her stained clothes and messy hair was very unappetizing.
We decided this one awful experience wouldn't stop us from going to one of our favorite restaurants and enjoying wonderful food. Instead we will just make it very clear that she will not be the one serving us. I suggest everyone does the same.

I don't know why the past few reviewers are complaining about the service, because I, too, grew up in West Hartford and have always found that the Max line of restaurants truly knows how to make a customer feel appreciated. The service at the Oyster Bar may feel a bit more rushed just because it's one of the more popular and vivacious places in West Hartford Center, but it's still above and beyond what you'd receive anywhere else.
Although I'm not an oyster person, there's enough non-oyster cuisine to please anyone. They bring out an interesting (and delicious) plate of carrots with a mustard dressing, which is a nice alternative to the standard loaf of bread. They also provide thin crackers with butter, which are also incredibly good. The martini list is incredible--check out the bloody oyster if you like bloody mary's--and you can find great deals with their grand prix 3-course options. For $25 (and sometimes less), you get an amazing 3-course meal.
Finally, the Oyster Bar provides some excellent people-watching, whether you're outside on Farmington Avenue or inside the beautifully decorated and spacious interior. It doesn't hurt to have good eye candy ;)

With an incredible rooftop bar (complete with a waterfall and TVs) and dining area, extensive and reasonably-priced wine list, delicious and interesting menu, and convenient location, you cannot go wrong with the Elbow Room. It has an interesting interior design, giving it a romantic feel. The menu items are delicious and range from unpretentious to daring. You can order something artistic and unique, but you can also stick with the tried-and-true macaroni and cheese, except this version is better than anything you’ve ever made yourself. And the prices—while somewhat high—are entirely reasonable for the food, service, and environment you’re getting. It’s easy to order things that won’t break the bank and still have a great experience.
The crowd is typical West Hartford Center and ranges in age, but the typical diner is probably in his or her 30s. The upstairs bar attracts people from their early 20s to mid 40s. People often take their kids, though, and they don’t seem out of place.

Harry's pizza is located in West Hartford center. Harry's has the best pizza in West Hartford. The toppings are fresh and the Neapolitan style crust is amazing. The restaurant is very clean and fairly large. They also serve weekend breakfast as well as sorbet and great salads and italian entrees.

Chengdu is a classy joint with real fine tables and chairs. I would say they have the best chinese in town. A little expensive but well worth the extra dollars. They have the best general tsos chicken. They recently moved and the new buidling is very nice and accomidating. Enjoy the chinese food there or take out.

ChengDu is the best Chinese food experience in CT! Yes, it's expensive, but the portions are large and every dish (from soup to dinner entree) is truly "gourmet". Also, don't forget, this is West Hartford...where nothing is cheap! If you're looking for a quiet dining experience, the dining room is large and very relaxing. While the bar area is always upbeat and lively. Both sides are well designed and stylishly appointed. The bar (dubbed "J Lounge") features a long, beautiful wood bar, a 50" plasma HDTV, a very well-stocked and diverse liquor selection, 2 tables by the window and a low-slung leather couch that stretches the entire length of the back wall (which comes in handy, because the bar is often filled to capacity). The drinks are reasonably priced, and there's a happy hour from 4-7 on weeknights. Dimly lit and (usually) filled with friendly, colorful regulars, the bar area is never a boring place to be. To completely round out the ChengDu bar experience, you will be served by either Albert (owner, friendliest bartender of all time) or his son Albert Jr. (very nice, intelligent and fun to talk to). Great food, great bar, great people and the two Albert's, no joke, you won't find a better Chinese place than ChengDu in the entire state of CT! Trust me on this one, The Du is our home away from home.
Pros: Best Chinese food in CT. Amazing bar. Great bartenders. Two large patios for outdoor dining.
Cons: Parking lot is small & tight...but you can always park on the street out front or on the nearby side streets.

Being new in town ,I was looking for some chinese take out ,went here on a fluke and boy was I impressed.Some of the best chinese food Ive ever had.I highly recommend their general tsos chicken ,absolutely yummy!
