That safari outfit drives me wild! 5/21/2006

Do you folks remember the WTTW program, Wild Chicago? I used to watch it all the time for a couple reasons: 1. I had a huge crush on Ben Hollis (must have been the safari outfit that drove me wild...) and 2. It featured some of the coolest people, places and things in the city. This park was highlighted years ago on one of their shows. I went here after watching them talk about it and loved it ever since. This park is quirky, different and fun. I love looking at the sculptures and walking along the park itself. (Note: Ben Hollis is back on the air with an updated version of Wild Chicago that takes you to these awesome places throughout Illinois. Check it out on our local PBS station). more

Odd Sculptures 5/7/2006

I drive past this beautiful park almost every single day and I can tell you it is a beautiful place year round! Its a big park with a long walking/biking/blading trail. The park is adorned with lots of really odd and unique sculptures. My favorite is the one with all the different road signs pieced together. One part of the park also has a bunch of flagpoles and each flagpole holds a flag from different countries. Its a very well kept park, with lots of green grass and beautiful trees. It is a great place to take a liesure walk or come for a nice biking trail. more

Very cool place 5/3/2006

I discovered this place many years ago. There is a long path that winds down the long stretch of this park. It is used for walking, running or biking. The path paralells a section of the Chicago river that stretches thru Skokie. This is where you find many avant-garde sculptures. The other words you may use are they are pieces of contemporary art or that they are the artists statement(s) on society. Not for everyone. Certainly worth seeing at least once. If you don't care for the sculptures you can still get in some great walking or just enjoy the park. more

A Park in Skokie 8/16/2005

This is a really neat park in Skokie. It's well kept and really nice and green. You'll enjoy a nice stroll around this park because there is a lot to see. Numerous sculptures are scattered along the grounds -- there's no specific theme but everything is really interesting. And on one side of the park, there is a whole display of flag from around the world. This is a very interesting park and a lot of fun to spend time at. You might even learn a few things here. In fact, its a pretty cool site even as you drive by! more

See art outdoors, any time day or night 8/4/2005

A very cool feature of this northshore suburb. They have large outdoor sculptures and park area all along their eastern border. There is a bike/walking path, and nearly 100 sculptures in all media, from concrete and metal to wood and plastic. Some are big enough kids can climb on them. A very nice way to spend a weekend day in the spring, summer or fall! more
