Guys are not going to feel comfortable in this romper room decorated studio that discusses the direction of nipples and massages the barebelly of pregnant women. I am so disturbed...

Life's Twists and Turns 5/3/2009

I've been going to Suze's studio for 7 years. When I started, I was looking for a way to deal with chronic pain from a twisted rib cage, a result of a long-ago car accident. Over the years, I've watched my rib cage turn back to a more normal structure, and I have realized there's no other form of exercise that would have been able to alter the entire torso of my body like that.\r \r Yoga provides strength, flexibility and balance -- while I've been active my whole life, I've never gotten all 3 of these from any other one type of physical activity. While I originally started yoga for one particular reason, it's brought many more benefits to my life, as well. It calms my mind, makes me more aware of the choices I make in my daily life, increased my breathing capacity and opens my heart, and more recently I've found myself venturing into the meditation and pranayama (breathing) practices. I've ""shopped around"" and tried many styles, studios, and teachers in Dallas and, although there are some wonderful offerings all around, I come back to Suze's because it fits me. It's a style I enjoy, and I appreciate that the class times are daily, regular, and start on time. It's easy to get in and out of parking and the studio, and she continues to make it affordable even in these tough economic times.\r \r Suze is full of love, light, and laughter, and it flows down through her teachers, and into all the classes, whether she is present or not. Her voice is always in the room and it has talked me through many classes where sometimes life was so challenging that I felt I spent half the class in child's pose. No matter where life leads me, I will always hold her in my heart as one of my Personal Buddhas.\r \r When people look at a yoga pose on the front of a magazine and say, ""Oh, I can't do that, so I can't do yoga,"" I tell them, ""You don't DO yoga... yoga does you."" A person who can only bend forward two inches is getting the same benefits as a person who can touch their forehead to their shins. And I tell them... ""And,you know, if you find you can't do THAT particular pose, don't worry... you'll learn to do some other really cool stuff.""\r \r :-)\r \r Yoga will meet you where you are.\r more

Yoga + Detox - Ain't It Grand! 5/3/2009

I'll be 60 this month, which to most means aches & pains - a declining life. Dynamic Power Yoga PLUS, has provided me just the opposite. After attending 2+ years, this is my first review. My results while great for me are not atypical. Five weeks ago, I began a Life Balance Workshop (detox program) weighing 220 lbs. The program including 2 - 3 Yoga sessions a week resulted in a 30 lbs weight loss, yes down to 190 lbs and also 4 inch waist reduction (41 inches down to 37 inches). I have improved eating habits, stopped drinking, and increased self control in other areas of my life. The good news is I did not have to go away to an expensive Spa, but could conveniently accomplish this as a normal part of my daily routine. Needless to say I'm an ecstatic ambassador for others who are ready to reap similar results. Pros: Weight Reduction, Improved Eating Habits and Increase Energy Cons: Not having any excuses for failure. more

Miracles do happen! 4/15/2009

Yesterday (04/06/09) - “Today there is proof miracles do happen! Today I received wonderful news that my heart surgery has been canceled. A special thank you to Suze Curtis’ yoga classes. Over the past few years, ‘have resulted in bringing my pulmonary pressures down. (Last echo 6 months ago) Undoubtedly, today’s news reflects the power of yoga, the power of prayers and the power of the human spirit! Earlier today, I checked into Baylor Hospital where I underwent a trans-esophageal echo cardiogram and a heart catherization. My mitral valve regurgitation has been re-evaluated to - mild to moderate; my pulmonary artery pressures have reduced since last echo and they were not able to locate the hole in my heart that had been diagnosed through several cardiograms previously. Additionally my coronary arteries are clear. Today the consensus of the Doctors’ opinions is that my surgery is not necessary considering the risk involved at this time in my life. I still have atrial fibrillation; however, I have lived with this for several years now and I will be monitored closely by my physician until further complications demand intervention. I want to express my heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone for their tremendous love, prayers, emotional support and expressed thoughtfulness - from my friends, clients, and family. I am so humbled by all the support during these last few trying weeks leading to today. These last few weeks have left me temporarily, emotionally exhausted and today’s good news has me relieved and life regenerated. Thank you so much for for those who donated for me. And again thank you so much for the the calls and supportive emails. Words cannot express how honored I am that you care and I look forward to the continued beauty you add to my life. A special thank you to Suze Curtis’ yoga classes. Over the past few years, ‘have resulted in bringing my pulmonary pressures down. (Last echo 6 months ago) Undoubtedly, today’s news reflects the power of yoga, the power of prayers and the power of the human spirit!……….To all my wonderful clients and co-workers at Aqua Medical spa 214-443-0100 - I will be back to work full time on Monday April 20th, 2009 more

THE BEST & MOST AMAZING Transforming Yoga (in and out of Texas) 12/11/2008

Recently moving to Los Angeles from Dallas, I figured...""Oh, I will be able to find comparable yoga to Suze's Dynamic Power Yoga."" I have yet to be proven otherwise.\r \r I have been in LA for two months and have tried 3 different studios as well as perhaps 10-12 different instructors. None of them even come close to the emotional, physical and spiritual practice I had with Suze in Dallas. \r \r What is DPYP like?\r \r AMAZINGLY INSPIRATIONAL\r Suze and her instructors have this amazing gift of getting inside your brain and giving you what you need mentally. When you leave you feel like a calm and at peace person, ready to take on anything.\r \r AMAZINGLY CHALLENGING OR RELAXING\r Every class is a different practice so you never get bored. Plus, when you leave you either feel refreshed OR like you climbed a mountain. It's great because she allows YOU to take the pace you want depending on YOUR day.\r \r AMAZINGLY INTUITIVE\r Suze knows the human body and intuitively knows and cares for people. She can help you physically accomplish things you never thought you could (or would!) do in a step by step, slow process. And mentally, practicing in her class over a period of time will help you work out depression, anxiety or just a plain and simple bad day.\r \r AMAZINGLY AMAZING\r I have yet to find a practice like the one at DPYP or a inspirational instructor such as Suze.\r \r What can I say....I cannot say enough!\r ; ) R Pros: THE PERFECT PRACTICE Cons: I am no longer in Dallas to take the classes! more

Way to Journey of Harmony in Body and Mind 10/31/2008

Yoga with Suze Curtis is essential for complete healthy body and mind. Suze?s practice encompasses everything I have been looking for in a yoga practice. It is more that a workout, it is a powerful transformational experience that brings clarity, focus, endurance, confidence, inner piece, balance and of course physical strength and muscle tone. This yoga studio offers so many different routines and each routine is so unique and effective. Each practice is very enjoyable as a result of wonderful music, beautiful soothing colors all around the room, perfect room temperature, and excellent guidance. After my first visit my body is craving to return to the studio and I am now practicing several times a week. I love the remarkable feeling after each practice, a feeling of complete freedom and strength in each molecule of my body. Each time all the stress, worry and tension goes away and I feel calm, joyful, strong and collected. I am so grateful to take on this journey of harmony in my body and mind through Suze?s yoga practice. Pros: Ambiance, perfect room temperature, and excellent guidance more

Best Yoga Studio!!! 7/10/2008

I have visited quite a few yoga studios, and am so pleased with Suze's Dynamic Power Yoga Plus. I have been attending since February of this year and purchased a year membership yesterday! I absolutely love the instructors, and most importantly, the owner, Suze, is such an inspiration, role model...not to mention, so personable! I feel so comfortable in this studio, absolutely love all of the students that attend the classes, and have advanced my practice so much, thanks to the educated instructors and the push to explore our boundaries freely! I highly recommend checking out at least one class...you'll love the atmosphere! Every friend that I have introduced is now attending regularly! more

Nothing Compares!! 5/28/2008

I've practiced Dynamic Power Yoga PLUS! with Suze since before she had her 1st studio location. She used to travel to various locations across the metroplex , bringing her yoga-style to us , wherever she could find a space. The first class -- I was hooked!! I was tired of the gym & amazed that ""yoga"" (Suze's style of yoga) could give me such an overall work-out. I'd lie on my mat at the end of a class, completely drenched - feeling my heart, lungs, muscles - but none of the chronic pain I had from too many years of weights & running. It's coming up on 9 years for me, practicing DPYP! Not only have I maintained a healthy physical body, but I've learned so much about how our thoughts & emotions affect our physical body. Over all these years, Suze created a beautiful space for us to practice. By beautiful, I mean more than how it looks. All of her teachers and staff welcome us and care for us the moment we enter the Studio. There is a sense of being ""real"" - that it's safe to be your'self' here, no matter who you are. Suze's style emphasizes sound-vibration release. It seemed weird at first - now I couldn't imagine 'holding it in'. What I am most grateful for is that I've always been able to count on my DPYP! yoga practice. Suze speaks often about bringing our dreams into reality; and that to do that - we need a strong foundation. I read her bio on her web-site. Maybe it's her farm upbringing - I don't know; but, she's created and continues to maintain a strong foundation - a place for us to practice - consistent class times, consistent teachers. I own a business and I'm sure there were many times throughout the years that Suze didn't feel like teaching, but us students never felt that. When she teaches, it's as if no-one in the world is more important than her students. I'm not a boyfriend or girlfriend or any special person in this yoga studio. I've just observed over many years and wanted to express my gratitude. Pros: Value, Consistency, Inspiration, For Everyone Cons: Arrive Early for Popular Class-Times more

Awesome Workout! 5/25/2008

I hate working out but I love going to Suze's power yoga classes. Suze is great in helping everyone move into the right poses to get the most out of our workouts. When I leave her class I feel streched out, rung out and tried but also so proud that I went to class. I am always recommending her class to friends and co-workers even if they have never done yoga before. Pros: Great instructors more

Not for the faint of heart! 5/23/2008

This is the most value for your money/time/effort/results in the Metroplex. It is for either the in-shape or the very motivated to get into shape as the instructors will draw attention to you and ways you can make a change to your body by correcting your yoga poses. It is not a place to go to ""disappear"" as you will probably be more in touch with your ""SELF"" here than anywhere else you've been before. The instructors are not sticklers about being on time anymore. It is a kinder-gentler arena where everyone's limitations are on display, so it is a nice un-stuffy atmosphere to go to unwind at. Also, speaking about stuffy, if you have never been to a ""heated"" yoga class before, I suggest spending a couple of days with no a/c to get used to it before excercising in a sauna. I watched a program on t.v. one time where there was this Russian woman who said that saunas were the best way to lose weight...well picture a sauna where everyone is in constant muscle-building motion. Now, THAT is a workout!!! In fact, I weigh about 20 lbs more than I used to because of lean muscle, and I still fit into my old clothes. This is the best muscle workout you will ever have, and you don't have to worry about dropping a dumbbell on your big toe. I never liked using weights, anyways. Those are for posers. Hehehe. ;-) Pros: Stress-Relief Without Expensive Narcotics Cons: Cons-Only Those Fooling Themselves more

Perfect for the extra effort 5/23/2008

Suze's Dynamic Power Yoga Plus 5/23/2008

I initially got into yoga after having a knee injury and was unable to run like I had in the past. Running had always been my emotional outlet and I was pretty discouraged at that point. Not only did yoga help fill that void, but I found that I really fell in love with it and began to tell all my friends about the healing power of yoga. Not long after beginning my yoga practice, I noticed my body becoming stronger and my knee no longer troubled me. Suze helped me to understand my body and really appreciate it. I have gained energy, strength, flexibility, and a much more positive self image. Pros: Convenient class times, a peaceful atmosphere, variety in each class, opportunities to challenge oneself and grow at any stage in his/her yoga practice more

Experience the BEST Hot Power Yoga! 5/22/2008

I started practicing yoga with Suze in 2001 to mend my bad back and gained so much more! With the guidance of Suze and all the amazing instructors at DPYP, I have reduced stress and anxiety, learned how to breathe and gained strength and flexibility I never knew possible. After a few weeks, my low back pain virtually disappeared. I look forward to my 90 minutes on the mat to rest my mind and energize my body. Suze has created the most amazing and healing power yoga! I only wish I could get there more often! more

BEST CHALLENGING FULL BODY/CARDIO WORKOUT EVER! 5/22/2008

I've been a Suze Power Yogi for over 7 years and yes, this is the most exhilerating and rewarding workout for everyone out there. The great thing is that even if you are a beginner, there are different levels for each pose and you are allowed to go at your own pace. I am a true devotee and cannot say enough about the mental, physical and psycological benefits this class offers. You walk out feeling as if you've gone through a full blown detox in an an hour and a half. For people that absolutely thrive on challenges, this is the most physically challenging regimen out there. Try it, you may just love it! BALANCE IS KEY. Pros: Layed back, great instructors, great location, variety of classes. Cons: Must love to sweat! more

Suze will transform your body, mind and spirit 5/22/2008

I have been practicing yoga with Suze Curtis' for almost ten years. I started attending her classes while I was running marathons and her yoga helped to enhance my running and offset the damage that running caused. I no longer run because of this damage, but I still practice yoga regularly -- I cannot imagine my life without it. Suze's yoga not only has physically transformed me, but I can see the changes in my mentality, too. Its hard to explain, but I have a calm mind now. And, when I do have a bad day, all I want is to go to yoga. When I first started practicing with Suze, her studio was within walking distance from my home. I now live 25 miles (roundtrip) from her studio and still make the trip. I have tried many other studios in the metroplex and none of them compare to Suze's style nor do any of them compare to the value of her membership. She is at least half the cost of other studios. I would highly recommend Suze to anyone looking for a practice that will enhance their life. Pros: Everything - the practice, atmosphere, cost, etc. - no other studio compares Cons: Suze needs more locations in the metroplex! more

Best Power YOGA ever!! 5/22/2008

Best Power YOGA ever!!! Suze Curtis' Dynamic Power Yoga is the best all over body strenghtening excercise I have ever done while increasing flexibility. Sound and vibration is a big part of the yoga practice which releases stuck emotions - you will feel light, clear, and refreshed after only one session. The heat (not too hot) will also help release toxins that have built up in your body resulting in clearer skin and less body puffiness. The routines are varied and fun compared to other studios that do the same routine over and over again. The spirit and energy in the studio is upbeat, supportive, and compassionate. Try it just once and you will be hooked! more

Suze's Yoga is the best in town. 5/22/2008

Suze's yoga is like no others. I have been working out/excercising for 30 years now and have tried all the newest trends-spin, aerobics, kickboxing, weight training, running, you name it. I would have described myself as being very fit and healthy. I found Suze 8 years ago and thought I would give it a try (the newest trend in Dallas at the time). My first class with her was so humbling. It was the hardest thing I have every done. Within 3 months my whole body was transformed. Suze's yoga is the hardest yoga out there. She has this unique ability to combine it all into one-hard work out with all the yoga benefits. I have tried other yoga places in town, but nothing compares to what Suze offers She is the best-hands down. You have to experience it to completely understand. more

Spectacular! 5/22/2008

There are no others who compare to Suze's Dynamic Power Yoga PLUS!. It is Exceptional, Extraordinary, Superb, Simply the Best Yoga Studio in the World! more
