Quality Learning Product 7/12/2011

My son started Rainbow pre school at 2 1/2 years old. After one month he was talking and was potty trained! 18 months later he was reading. He went from pre school into the 1st grade skipping kindergarten. The environment is nuturing. With small classes, committed teachers and other bright children adds up to a quality learning product. more

passion for learning /teaching 7/3/2011

Our family has been with Rainbow Montessori for 8 years, since our two daughters entered preschool. There is an old saying *You need a village to raise a child* and Rainbow Montessori is our village. \r \r As parents we are deeply touched to see how the teachers have helped our daughters to grow in their own personal development while becoming more empathetic and cooperative with their fellow classmates. \r \r Our Daughters want to go to school as early as possible and want to leave as late as possible. What better way of saying how much they love being there. \r \r All our teachers have a passion toward their profession which translates into a classroom atmosphere of learning and respect. \r \r Thanks again Rainbow Montessori for a wonderful and exciting year and we are looking forward to seeing you in September for another year of passionate learning. \r The Guettaf Family more

Not a real Montessori 3/30/2011

My son went to one of the pre-school classrooms when he was a little bit over 3 ½ years old. It was a bad experience all together for my kid, and very stressing for the whole family. It was wrong in so many ways. It was crushing his spirit. \r The whole experience was similar to an army drill operation. The classroom was cold and the teachers too. The classrooms are too big. The playground does not have green areas. The recesses are too short, and too few. \r In the classroom everybody needed to be quiet all the time, with no interaction between the kids. All kids needed to have a ?personal space? to concentrate. There was not background music, and no laugh or group fun. Remember ?three years old?. There was no talk, no noise, no non-sense allowed.\r There was some music during one of the circle times. It was ominous music that felt like an old Soviet Union march. In fact they did not dance but marched. \r Some comments from the teacher: ?it would be easy to just put some silly more

Not a good school 1/19/2011

Rainbow is a run down school. I do not reccomend or even think of this as a Montessori school. This is a unhappy place for teachers who are not able or want to work in a state ran school. The staff makes the children act like they are in the military. The teachers are complaion and look tired. The constant bickering of teachers about administration problems overflows into the classroom. If you are present at recess(which yoyu probably are not allowed) you will see the military method by the staff. One teachers that I would say is professional is Mr. E and that is becuase he does not degrage the children. He boosts self esteem and educates with Montessori method. Last, the high tutuion is obviously not going into school improvement. Broken stuff and run down enviorment more

Don't gamble with the self esteem of your child 7/22/2009

We are pulling our boys out of Rainbow now. We've had our boys (2.5 and 5) at Rainbow for 2 years. We had great experience with Ms. Sonia and Ms. Virginia but the last year has been very difficult. Our 5 year old was in an ego destroying class for 4 months. We finally connected with a number of other parents and found out their children were also being labelled by this horrible teacher. We finally have a new teacher but the damage has been done. Another unprofessional experience today with little regard for the emotions of my 5 year old son, and we are out of here. Rainbow is fine for day care and pre-K. more

Rainbow Montessori - Sunnyvale, CA 3/23/2008

My son attended Rainbow Montessori from the time he was 8 weeks old through 1st Grade. Rainbow Montessori, in its capacity as a daycare facility is fine however, as an educational institution, it fails miserably. In both Kindergarten and First Grade, I was told my son was behind (even though the Montessori Method on the Rainbow website states that "children learn and progress at their own pace. . . slow learners are not frustrated by their inability to keep up"). On top of tuition fees, I was encouraged by Rainbow to hire a tutor for my son (additional $360/month). I pursued this route and even so, my son still had to be held back. I am pleased to report that I've switched my son out of Rainbow to our local public school . My son has gone from zero confidence to excelling in the areas he was told he was behind. \r \r I should also mention that there is high turnover of teachers and administrators. Teachers seem very unhappy and burnt out. I would not recommend Rainbow Montessor more

Parents should consider this. 5/30/2006

I highly recommend Rainbow for preschool. I know almost a dozen people who are sending their kids here and all very impressed. ANyone who is considering Montessori school should definitely check this one out. The rooms are of decent size. They have two difffernt playgrounds for infants and toddlers and are in contant supervision of an adult. Food is provided and there is a good veg menu too. more

Great school 9/22/2005

This school is located at Duane Avenue in Sunnyvale. It is a private school. Very close to Lawrence and 101. A Very good school for toddlers and preschoolers. They also provide food for kids including a Vegetarian Menu. Very good for working moms and dads. They take care of kids very well. My son learnt a lot from this school. I started putting him when he was 2 yrs and 4 months old. He was not speaking English. But as soon as he went to this school he started speaking English very fluently and was singing rhymes, ABC's, 123's.... I would recommend this school to everyone. more

Great school. highly recommended 9/8/2005

I highly recommend Rainbow for preschool. My niece attended two years of preschool there (their program is 2 years in the same class, which is great) and is now starting kindergarden there. The Montessori method is fabulous for preschoolers to learn the basics in a very "hands on" environment with the children allowed to choose their activities during the day (a lot of independent activity). They expect a lot from the preschoolers, so it's best if they are pretty mature. Not overly academic for preschoolers (I consider Challenger too academic oriented for preschoolers) more
