We were NOT impressed at all! From the moment we stepped through the front doors we did not get a warm and welcome vibe. We were there to shop for my sister a wedding gown. We did our research and according to Poffie Girls website an appointment was not necessary. Being that we had a 2 hour drive ahead of us to get there, we didn't make an appointment. Upon arrival the lady at the front desk was cold and could have cared less that we were there to spend thousands of dollars. Needless to say we stayed less than 10 mins and walked out and will NEVER be back. I DO NOT recommend Poffie Girls at all!! Living in Gastonia, you come to know any good bridal and formal stores in the area. When I became engaged over Christmas, I knew that Poffie Girls needed to be one of my first stops. When you enter the store, you will immediately fall in love with the charm and southern hospitality that Poffie Girls embodies. I had the pleasure of working with Sara and she was absolutely phenomenal. She took into account my price range and preferences and helped me find my dream dress for under $1000. I would absolutely recommend Poffie Girls to any bride-to-be. I plan to go back to Poffie Girls for my bridesmaid dresses and tux rentals as well! My mom and I decided to visit Poffie Girls to try on wedding dresses completely on a whim, having heard about them from an aunt who purchased my cousin's prom dress there. We called on a Friday morning and they were able to give us an appointment for that afternoon! It's a charming little house converted into a bridal boutique that feels very welcoming. We met my consultant Elaine and talked a little about what I wanted and my budget. We were trying to stay around $500 which is really low for a wedding dress. Just so happened they were having a sale that day. Elaine pulled 3 dresses and dress 1 and 3 were amazing. Exactly along what I asked for and both under or around $500. Dress 1 ended up being my dream dress and we got it for $330! Service was fantastic and the atmosphere is wonderful. We went back later for my dress fitting and to look at tuxes for my groom and his groomsmen. We found the staff just as helpful and accomodating and the price was very reasonable. Anywhere from $90-$125 which included everything except socks and underwear. They have something for everyone and dresses for everyone's budget as well as some wonderful sales almost all the time. I was worried initially because the store seemed very upscale and I only had a budget of about $1,000; however, once Karen knew what I was looking for she pulled several dresses within my price range. After trying a few on, I had finally found my dress. Even so, I didn't leave the store with it because I didn't want to make a hasty decision. At no point was I ever pressured to do anything, but after leaving the store all I could think about was the dress I had tried on. I called Karen later that day to order it. I was really nervous about shopping for my bridal gown. I had already gone to several shops & couldn't find a gown I loved under $2500. In addition, my wedding is taking place on the beach in Negril, Jamaica & it seems that no one carries practical destination dresses. I found out about Poffie Girls & made my appointment. Sara was my consultant & she was absolutely amazing!! I described to her what I wanted, that it had to be appropriate for the beach & yet still make me feel like a bride. I had pulled 2 or 3 dresses on my own & Sara went a pulled about half a dozen more. All the dresses she picked were right on the money! She new exactly what looked good on me & the style I was searching for. She ended up picking out the perfect dress (with the most perfect price, I could not believe the value of what I was getting). She also picked out a stunning veil that complimented the gown perfectly & even gave me great ideas for dressed up sandals for walking down the isle. From start to finish this was an absolutely perfect experience when it came to finding a wedding gown. When I started to sign the papers & make my payment to order the gown Sara was so happy for me that she gave me a big hug & told me I was going to be an absolutely gorgeous bride & she was so happy to have helped me. This woman is too amazing!!!!! I'm taking my Mom & future Mother-in-law, as well as the entire bridal party here to order the rest of out attire. I also ordered my shoes & jewelry from Poffie Girls. They really take the stress out buying your gown. Their customer service is impeccable, and the value for what your are getting is not to be surpassed. When purchasing your wedding gown, or bridesmaid gown, or even a prom gown, you aren't just a sale to the lovely women at Poffie Girls, you are a chance for them to give you a once in a lifetime experience of fun and excitement, where every woman leaves feeling like a princess indeed. more

I was recently a customer of Poffie Girls for my wedding gown. I just wanted to let everyone know what great customer service I received. I came in after another appointment at a nearby dress shop and wow, what a difference! From the moment I walked in I was treated like royalty. Sara was my bridal consultant and she was fantastic. She listened to all my questions/concerns, eased my mind, and made it such a fun experience. I found a dress I fell in love with, however, I did not purchase it that day. Since it was the first day I was out shopping, I wanted to continue to shop around and make sure it was ""the one"". I continued to shop around for a few weeks at numerous shops, and tried on tons of dresses. Still, nothing compared to Poffie Girls. They had best customer service, friendliest staff, and best stock of dresses out of all the bridal shops I visited. I ended up going back and ordering my dress without a doubt in my mind. Poffie Girls even price matched another bridal shop for my dress. Everything, from picking out the dress, finding accessories, to fittings with the alterations department was wonderful. I made an appointment to look for a bridal gown in August, went with my mom and sisters and was so stressed out by their comments I needed to go back. I went back a few weeks later with my two best friends and decided on my gown. My bridal consultant was sweet every step of the way--and very helpful in finding gowns made for my body type. She was even helpful when I decided to look at bridesmaid dresses that day and in fitting my maids. The only complaint I have is that the few times I have called with questions the people on the other end of the line have been very short and rude. When you are shopping for a wedding, this is THE place to go! A friend of mine got her gown at Poffie Girls and I decided to check it out for myself. I loved the styles they carried and decided on an Aire gown! They are the only ones in the area that carries this line! It was beautiful and I was so happy! This was the worst store experience of my life. They are the most disorganized, unprofessional, and disrespectful example of a store I have ever been to. My sales associate and final dress alteration woman were both amazing, that I can say. The problem is with the owner and management team. Every problem I had along the way (first dress came in incorrectly due to their oversight and the designer's, alteration not done properly - instead of being let out my dress was taken in, the hem being a jigsaw puzzle, the fact that I was lectured for 10-15 minutes on my eating habits and how I should diet, my veil that came in incorrectly and had to be delivered 2 days prior to the wedding, the $20 that was shoved at me for being upset with the service, and then the horrible denial and ""it wasn't our fault"" attitude that I received after I sent my complaint e-mail) was made worse by the managers and the owner. Poffie Girls is run by absolutely ineffective and seemingly unorganized management staff who take absolutely no culpability for what they have done. The $3500 we spent there I regret every day. But, at the end of the day, I feel the worst for the wonderful employees (at least my sales associate and my final seamstress) who have to deal with the issues that are with that store. I purchased my wedding gown, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dress and MOB dress at Poffie Girls. For my wedding dress shopping experience, I wanted to feel special. I didn't want to go to these warehouse type places and feel like a number. Poffie Girls is as far from the "warehouse type" that there could ever be. The shop itself is very clean and homey. They make you feel welcome from the moment you step in the door. Sherry talked with me about what type of wedding I was having, my budget and my likes/dislikes of wedding gowns. Sherry helped me find beautiful gowns on the floor as well as the back of the store. She assisted me in trying the dresses on in a huge dressing room with walls and a door (none of that partition stuff). It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. I was on a tight budget (up to $1,000 @ most) but I have very upscale tastes. I went to all of the budget bridal places (davids bridal ect.) and got okay service, but not the bridal service you want as a bride. I went to Poffie Girls, and I was treated like a princess! I was tended to right away, sat in a pretty little seating area where they spoke to me about what I wanted and my budget. They weren't snooty about my small budget at all (since they also have very expensive dresses). Instead they focused on putting more effort into finding a dress I would love. The attendant went and pulled some dresses for me based on what I wanted and my budget. There was no rummaging through racks of dresses, and no attendant pulling dresses out of my price range daring me to fall in love with something I couldn't afford. It was absolutely stress free, and actually really fun! I felt like a queen being fussed over, and taken care of. They had so many styles, very good quality dresses and gorgeous veils and hairpieces. Definitely worth making the trip! You rarely get this kind of service on a small budget! We were treated as if we were the only bride in Charlotte! The gown selection was excellent. And we were always well attended by everyone who waited on us. Dresses (we ordered wedding dress and mom of bride dress) were delivered on time. Fitting experience was good and dress fit perfectly when the bride returned to try it on. I visited bridal shops in North and South Carolina and finally found Poffie Girls. I was treated like a queen. Everywhere else that I went, I was shown where the gowns were and left to pull the dresses, take them to the dressing room and help myself. I was so confused when I went to Poffie Girls but was immediately put to ease. Elaine my consultant spent 15 minutes with me finding out what I liked and my budget. While I waited she went to the back and pulled my gowns, put them in the dressing room and helped me into the gowns. I was stood in front of my very own gold framed mirror while my mother took pictures. I must have tried on 20 dresses in one hour and went back to the very first one that Elaine pulled for me. I was treated special every time I entered the store by everyone there. Elaine stayed in touch with me and called me before my wedding to wish me luck. I went to Poffie Girls to try on wedding gowns and had a great experience, and I think it was MAINLY due to the fact that I went on a weeknight (they are open late on Thursdays), in the early evening (around dinner time) so there were hardly any other people there. I think if I were to have gone during a weekend, the experience probably would have been a lot different (but that's true with any bridal shop, they tend to be very busy on weekends). My consultant was Diane and she was extremely helpful. She let me try on a large number of dresses, and even let me go into the 'employees only' back room so I could look through the racks myself and pick out the dresses I wanted to try on (from what I understand, they usually dont let you do that, they ask you what you're looking for and then THEY go pick out gowns for you to try on, then bring them out to you). I'm sure this is because they weren't too busy when I was there, but regardless, it was very nice to be able to look myself. The only thing I sort of didnt like was that you can only take pictures of 3 dresses, so you have to pick carefully. But, that's better than not being able to take pictures at all (which is the policy of some stores). Overall, I'd definitely recommend Poffie Girls, but like I said, don't go on the weekend, I dont think you would get as much individual attention, simply because they are very busy. I recently visited Poffie Girls while visiting my Grandmother in Gastonia. I was so impressed with the service and selection that I purchased my wedding gown, bridesmaids gowns and my mother found her gown even though we all live out of state. I had looked in my home town of Atlanta and there was nothing there to compare to Poffie Girls. I think that local brides would be doing themselves a terrible injustice not to take advantage of this wonderful bridal shop in your area. I will be traveling 4 hours for my alteration fittings and to pick my gown up and I will not mind at all because I know that every detail will be perfect for my wedding. Even with the distance I feel that I will save money because of the prices in Atlanta and alterations will be at least 50% of what I would pay. I've had a great experience with Poffie Girls from my first visit. I had shopped at high-end shops in Charlotte and little shops in the country. Poffie Girls service was on par with the high-end ($6000 dresses) shops, but carries all the affordable brands. It's true that you don't hand pick the dresses; they are kept in the back. The clearance dresses are in the front and you can see all of them. They are no you-know-who $100 sale dresses, they are brand-name gowns that have simply been discontinued. If you are concerned about not being able to see the regular price dresses, check out their designers online before you go. Also, the dress I bought was a designer that almost never lets vendors offer discounts, but the store was having a 20% off sale and they made no exceptions. I saved $300 on my dress. If you ever believe online reviews, PLEASE read what others are writing. This place will cause your wedding to be a nightmare. Avoid them at all costs. Just like everyone else they treated me great until they had my money then they could care less. My dress was crooked, it wasn't steamed, I sat for hours trying to get helped before I finally had to get another customer to help me with my dress. The WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! more
